What If Your Local Gay Bar Says "Wear A Mask"

They say "No Mask" no entry

Would you put on a mask? Or would you leave?

by Anonymousreply 36June 2, 2020 5:45 PM

You should have seen all the queens milling about on the street in front of a gay bar in NYC today. No social distancing. I saw a lot of dumb gays out today, no masks, no distance.

[quote] You should have seen all the queens milling about on the street in front of a gay bar in NYC today

You should've asked them if they were tried after attending the protests last night

by Anonymousreply 2May 30, 2020 10:57 PM

How exactly would you drink while wearing a mask?

by Anonymousreply 3May 30, 2020 11:00 PM

R3 with a straw

by Anonymousreply 4May 30, 2020 11:00 PM

With a straw, unde tur mask. I did it today.

by Anonymousreply 5May 30, 2020 11:03 PM

I'd put on this one!

*under your mask.

by Anonymousreply 7May 30, 2020 11:04 PM

Even with a mask, a bar straight or gay is one of the worse places to be. Also, I would remind people that many cities are under an additional curfew, due to the violent protests.

by Anonymousreply 8May 30, 2020 11:08 PM

Gays are going to bars amid this pandemic? You would think they know better after the first time around and leave the idiot behavior to right-wingers trolling the local Trader Joe's.

by Anonymousreply 9May 30, 2020 11:14 PM

I was talking with my Dad about this today (though not strictly about gay bars). "Bars" are not yet allowed to open where I live, but restaurants are. I've lived in multiple states in the west and midwest. I could not think of. a place except Chicago that has an establishments that is "strictly" a bar. Almost every place serves some kind of food and can be a "restaurant".

Are all alcohol establishments that common?

by Anonymousreply 10May 30, 2020 11:20 PM

What’s a gay bar?

by Anonymousreply 11May 30, 2020 11:22 PM

R10 Where I live bars have to serve food, unless they are a private club.

by Anonymousreply 12May 30, 2020 11:23 PM

[Quote]Are all alcohol establishments that common?

Yes. There are plenty of bars that don't have a kitchen, it is just a place to drink.

by Anonymousreply 13May 30, 2020 11:25 PM

Where do you live R13?

by Anonymousreply 14May 30, 2020 11:27 PM

What a weird question, OP. If our local gay bar doesn't say "wear a mask" why would anyone go there?

by Anonymousreply 15May 30, 2020 11:30 PM

I live in Jersey/New York metro now, but there were bars without food to be found in other states I've lived as well. Especially with gay bars I think most gay bars I've been to in my life do not sell food.

by Anonymousreply 16May 30, 2020 11:32 PM

R15 to see your face uncovered

You know the saying online "face pic pelase"

by Anonymousreply 17May 30, 2020 11:33 PM

I don’t usually go to bars, but I wouldn’t wear a mask. I don’t drink beer or wine with a straw.

by Anonymousreply 18May 30, 2020 11:36 PM

I assume bars are no mask, no entry. None of the places I passed don't let you enter, anyway. All the drinking seems to be outside, with no distancing.

by Anonymousreply 19May 30, 2020 11:38 PM

*None of the places I passed let you enter, anyway.

what about a restaurant?

by Anonymousreply 21May 30, 2020 11:42 PM

It might depend on whether the bar had hot male bartenders wearing only masks with matching jock straps.

by Anonymousreply 22May 31, 2020 9:39 PM

I’m fine wearing a mask to the grocery store or necessary errands.

I don’t find them comfortable and would not wear one out to socialize or go somewhere unnecessary.

Just my choice. I’ll stay home till I can breathe.

by Anonymousreply 23May 31, 2020 10:23 PM

[quote] Gays are going to bars amid this pandemic?

You type this like you’re surprised. They’re still cruising and hooking up on Grindr, too.

by Anonymousreply 24May 31, 2020 10:52 PM

If my local says wear a mask, I'd probably get laid more often.

by Anonymousreply 25May 31, 2020 10:53 PM

Doorman - You have to wear a mask to come in the bar. Me- but I can still get raw dogged in the bathroom stall right?

by Anonymousreply 26June 1, 2020 3:04 AM

I'm ugly so the less of my face you see, the better. (I'm the definition of, "Nice body but put a bag over its head.") Cover my face? I'm in!

by Anonymousreply 27June 1, 2020 3:56 AM

R10 must live in Virginia.

You must not get out much or be very young - most gay bars in the country are alcohol only. It's actually a small minority that have food served.

by Anonymousreply 28June 1, 2020 4:00 AM

California bars have food served.

by Anonymousreply 29June 1, 2020 5:34 AM

R29 - but they aren't required to - and a lot of California gay bars do not serve food.

by Anonymousreply 30June 1, 2020 5:43 AM

Plenty do. It was characterized as a small minority. It is not.

by Anonymousreply 31June 1, 2020 5:45 AM

I'm all for wearing a mask. But not in a bar. So I just wouldn't go to a bar. It wouldn't be a sign of protest. A bar just wouldn't be my preference in which to hang out.

by Anonymousreply 32June 1, 2020 6:29 AM

What is even your argument r31? First you claim "California bars serve food", then you backtrack saying some serve food.

So as you admit, there are lots of gay bars in California which do not serve food.

The point is yes, there are plenty of bars which do not serve bar.

by Anonymousreply 33June 1, 2020 12:56 PM

r33 I am definitely not going to a bar that does not serve bar

by Anonymousreply 34June 1, 2020 6:26 PM

Just that poster was ignorant saying a small minority of gay bars serve food. Don’t really care much beyond that.

by Anonymousreply 35June 1, 2020 10:44 PM

R24 - that is pretty self sabotaging
