In my city supermarket last night on a crowded night (so much for counting people), about a fifth of the people weren't wearing masks, And I'm going to tell you who.

Every white shopper but three had a mask on.

Every African American shopper but five did not have a mask on.

Every Asian shopper had a mask on.

All workers had masks on.

I'm biracial and because of how people are here I didn't count myself in the tally, but I had a mask on.

Someone gave me two paper mask last night, I was so thankful, because I can not find any at my stores.

I would not run all over town looking for a mask or order online. A friend sent me one. Looks like a maxipad!

I’m waiting another few weeks to start venturing out again. I’m being super cautious right now, and waiting to see how the numbers develop in my area before I decide to go back to flying and back to work.

I’m getting increasingly unhappy with being at home, but I have people to think about whom J live with and don’t want to bring this home to my family, or myself.

Better safe than sorry. Everything will still be here within 30 days or so, so I’m gonna continue.being extra cautious and will continue wearing masks and gloves in public areas until we have a vaccine.

R9, I just went on Amazon and searched. Masks are not that expensive. I saw 50 masks for $38; I saw another--4 cloth masks for $30; yet another--a 2- pack cotton washable mask with breathing insert for $18.

I live in a 40 unit apartment building and not a damn soul wears a mask.

I am in an area of the SE where the #s are shooting upwards. Near half the people aren't wearing masks in the grocery stores and elsewhere. Older men are among the worst. But plenty of women are without masks as well. I believe most are the less educated types and/or Trump supporters and Fox News watchers. They refuse to comply with social distancing as well. I've told a few at times to back off. I avoid going to stores as much as possible.

I got my first post quarantine hair cut today. A customer walked in without a mask despite the fact there are two big signs on both doors saying a mask is required. 😐

R30, you didn't have any issues with the fact no social distancing was available to you or the person cutting your hair? And what were the conditions inside the hair cutting place?

Everyone was wearing a mask. I checked in on my phone and waited outside until they were ready. The stylist sanitized the chair and she was wearing gloves. There was only one other customer getting a haircut.

When I don't see someone wearing a mask, I go out of my way to, obviously, put as much distance between us as possible and treat them like the selfish assholes they are. I’m in Boston and went shopping today. Everyone on the streets and in the store was wearing a mask, except for a couple homeless-looking guys.

I would imagine that masks and gloves may be out of financial reach for some people. Remember the early days of AIDS? There were free condoms everywhere, and for the next decade thereafter. Maybe we really ought to be offering free masks and gloves for anyone who needs it.

Traditional owner-operator barbers have shaves on their menu. The chain places do not. My barber owned a high end shop for a few years, and he did lots of shaves - at $25 each. It has to do with the clientele's available time and money. At his current place, I've seen him do 2 in 6 years.

Due to the Coviddening, he is prohibited from using reusable towels on his clients and must use paper towels. He used to give everybody a slap with a hot (or cold if you preferred) towel, but now he can't. And he took shaves off his menu.

R83: I took the Covid-19 and antibody tests last week and negative for both. That means I did not have Covid-19 when I took the swab test or had it in the past. I will continue doing what I have been doing so far, regardless of what anyone says. Mask, face shield, wash hands/items, nuke take out, 6+ feet away from all non-mask wearers, no elevators with other people, Vit C/D etc. I'd rather take my chances with that than take any chances with any other BS I hear.

I had three tests, too, all negative. I don’t know what I have. I may have just developed allergies, for the first time, at 60. I have to investigate further, as I feel like shit.

I’m going to continue with the masks and gloves and so forth, too. I have two family members who caught it. Both recovered, but one was in the hospital for 20 days.

The scariest thing was on February 25th, when someone from the CDC said “We’ll have to learn to live in a different way.” Just think about what that means. We)re not done with this business, not for a year or possibly a few years. I think the CDC stopped being so frank because they were scaring people, but I would prefer to hear the truth and then manage my fear, as opposed to being in the dark.
