We've been in love before: Rudy after 9/11; Andrew Cuomo's coronavirus pressers. Sweet, sweet Jacob.
Mayor Jacob Frey has had his 15 minutes.

Fascinating post, OP. You forgot to include your point, though.

R1 Thank you. My point was / is that we're all in love with this guy right now because he's saying the right things at the right time. Once we move on to another crisis, his glory will be forgotten. We'll find a new beau. He is adorable, though, and has great hair!

Got to hand it to OP. He called it right. From fame to shame in a week.

How the tide turns?

No elected official in a major metropolitan city in this country can support the full abolition of the police and expect to get reelected. The role of policing needs to change, dramatically in some ways, but to completely eliminate law enforcement would never fly with the majority of voters and could potentially lead to more right-wing candidates winning elections by default, which would surely set any progress made by protesters back. It would be a clear case of letting perfect be the enemy of the good.

So it’s over, OP?
I’m crying right now thanks to you.
I mean full on body heaving sobs. It’s quite the sight to see!
