At what age do writers reach their peak?

It seems like one of the professions where people put out their best work the older they get.

Heminingway would disagree.

R1 Hemingway is not my favorite by a long shot, so I'd be okay with him disagreeing.

It depends of the writer. There are a lot of writers that peak with their first novel. Some peak when they find some maturity, but it's quite rare the writer that writes his/her best novels when he/she is old

It varies.

40s and 50s

Writers need a little bit of life experience before they can write anything compelling.

I wrote my novel [italic]So Dark the Waves On Biscayne Bay[/italic] in my early 50s. I've grown so much as a writer since then.
