Legal Question About Escorts on Grindr

I sent a “Hey” message to a hot guy on Grindr. I’m not hooking up during quarantine, but I’m trying to set up a fuck buddy for when it’s safe to start hooking up again. This guy immediately stated that he was an escort. Now, I would never hire someone for sex but I was really kind of curious how much they charge so I said “Rates.” He replied “160.” I got nervous that I had done something illegal just by inquiring about that so I blocked him. Then I unblocked him so I could back to the conversation and state that I was simply curious and not actually interested. However, after the unblock, he didn’t show up in my messages. So it was like his profile had disappeared. Maybe, I’m not sure. Or maybe he really is an escort and got freaked out and deleted his profile. It’s unclear.

Did I do anything illegal by just asking what his rates are? There was no discussion of sex acts or anything. Just a back-and-forth of essential four one-word messages.

OP = Mike Pence

I just forwarded this thread to Chris Hanson. Beware the sweet tea.

Welcome to the underworld, toots. Please send me all your stuff or I call the Vice Squad.

He was scared off by the flapping of your caftan and the death grip when you clutched your pearls.

That is solicitation.

by Anonymousreply 5May 25, 2020 5:14 PM

No, you idiot. Do you really think the police will come knocking?

by Anonymousreply 6May 25, 2020 5:16 PM

They could if they want OP for some other crime, though he doesn’t strike me as a criminal mastermind.

by Anonymousreply 7May 25, 2020 5:20 PM

Pretty sure the escort solicited first.

by Anonymousreply 8May 25, 2020 5:20 PM

Escorting, per se, is not illegal. You can hire someone to go to dinner and social activities with you. It is paying for sex that is illegal. So, asking about a rate (with no sex implied) is certainly not a crime. If you read through ads for escorts, you'll often see something along the lines of, "payment is for my time, only, not for services," which is their idea of a legal "out" just in case. That may or may not hold up in court. ;) Sex work is a thriving industry, and ought to be made fully legal -and taxed and regulated. One of the big problems is that while many, many men are happy to be clients, they would rather die than admit to it, and even speak out against it. If everyone who ever hired a sex worker voted to decriminalize it the world would be a very different place.

by Anonymousreply 9May 25, 2020 5:21 PM

I agree: legal, regulated, taxed. Making it criminal is stupid.

That said, I walked through the Red Light district in Amsterdam once... it was depressing by the time we got to the other side. Those women looked grim. Most guys who come through an escort's door probably aren't much to look at. Anyway, you want to have sex with who you want to have sex with, not who's paying. Nonetheless until there's a way to eliminate the problems that make it seem viable to the prostitutes, it may as well be safe and governed.

R9 Here in Canada, I'm a fulltime sex worker. I pay my taxes, like everyone else. I don't like the thought of "regulations". Some cities do, however, try and force all working escorts to purchase licenses. I don't like the government in my business.

by Anonymousreply 11May 25, 2020 5:27 PM

Yeah, most businesses don't, R11, but that's how you keep lead out of your oatmeal.

by Anonymousreply 12May 25, 2020 5:29 PM

Mary, OP. You won't enjoy your $160's worth.

Just watch porn.

by Anonymousreply 13May 25, 2020 5:29 PM

$160? Guess business is rough in a pandemic.

by Anonymousreply 14May 25, 2020 5:31 PM

Hello I understand that a internet crime has been committed here. I ask that you all vacate the thread and leave me alone with OP. OP, please remove your pants and assume the position for a full cavity search.

by Anonymousreply 15May 25, 2020 5:31 PM

I can't imagine losing sleep over this.

by Anonymousreply 16May 25, 2020 5:32 PM

I’ve hired working hookers off Grindr, RM, backpage (when it was still around), and other sites, plus erotic massages from similar sites. The best experiences are when you convince a young twink to fuck (or at least let you worship his hole) for money. Organic sex workers are just mind blowingly hotter.

At any rate, during my more desperate times, I’ve ramped you the solicitation with coded language and offers, e.g. “green flowers”, “gen”, “arrangement$”, etc. I was propositioning guys for several hours some nights. The worst that’s happened to me is that my account was banned after being reported several times.

Of course one must back away if the other person mentions ANYTHING illegal, besides substances.

*ramped up

Jesus Christ you create hustler threads weekly. Stop being a pussy and just do it if that is what you are looking to do!

by Anonymousreply 19May 25, 2020 5:52 PM

Yeah, Mary OP.

SHIT OR GET OFF THE POT

OP is 15 years old and “accidentally “ hacked his dad’s Grindr account. Didn’t a Chinese company buy Grindr?

by Anonymousreply 22May 25, 2020 8:54 PM

Would sizemeat have been involved, OP?

by Anonymousreply 23May 25, 2020 9:38 PM
