I went to a small park in my town in the Hudson Valley and there were two large groups with competing Latin music blasting from big speakers.

I just can't deal with this wall of noise when all I want to hear is the birds.

If I'm not mistaken, Spanish music arrived in America in St. Augustine and Sante Fe well before other Europeans settled on the East and mid-Atlantic coasts. Look at all the territory we took from Mexico after the Mexican War; it was Latino for centuries. So, I feel confident saying Spanish and Mexican music were predominant in parts of our country for long periods of time before other music was introduced.

I still think it's rude to turn up the volume when other people are uncomfortable with it, no matter who or where you are.
