Help finding a thread

Okay, all you DLers, I was reading a thread yesterday about the best books on gay history. Today, I have tried all types of search words etc. but cannot find the thread, and I did not”favorite” it. Would one of you kind souls locate the thread for me and also tell me exactly what search criteria you used?

I know I’m setting myself up for censure, tongue lashings, and scoldings. That’s cool 😎.

Thanks in advance.

Good luck! Sure a DL bookworm has bookmarked it.

by Anonymousreply 1May 22, 2020 4:32 PM

Okay, follow up question. How does one attach an existing DL thread into a new post. I see it done quite often. I just haven’t figured out how. Yup, more abuse coming my way, I can feel it. 😁

[quote] How does one attach an existing DL thread into a new post. I see it done quite often.

Just put the url of the thread you wish to link in the “Web Site Link” when you’re posting.

by Anonymousreply 3May 22, 2020 4:46 PM

I have a question too. When I WW a post it grays out but the number doesn’t change. Is that what’s supposed to happen? Thank you and mock away.

by Anonymousreply 4May 22, 2020 4:57 PM

I would like to highlight another post in my reply like R3 did.

by Anonymousreply 5May 22, 2020 5:17 PM

It takes a few minutes to a few hours for a W&W or F&F to show up in the thread.

DL's search function is not very good. The best way to search DL is to search on Google using your keywords with "Datalounge" or "site: datalounge.com" added at the end.

by Anonymousreply 6May 22, 2020 5:28 PM

I hated, HATED that fucking thread.

Good luck finding it losers.

by Anonymousreply 7May 22, 2020 5:31 PM

Here

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 8May 22, 2020 5:32 PM

^ Sorry, that should have been "site:datalounge.com" No space after "site:"

by Anonymousreply 9May 22, 2020 5:32 PM

Yay R8!

by Anonymousreply 10May 22, 2020 5:34 PM

Thank you R3, R6 and R8 very much.

I’m a bit sad/disappointed that nobody called me a fat lazy whore/cunt/bitch etc.

by Anonymousreply 11May 22, 2020 6:15 PM

You're welcome, you fat, lazy, whore cunt bitch.

by Anonymousreply 12May 22, 2020 6:40 PM

R12 thank you! I feel so validated now.

by Anonymousreply 13May 22, 2020 6:54 PM

R5 this is how:

[quote] then paste the part of the post you have copied (there should NO space after the closed square bracket).

by Anonymousreply 14May 22, 2020 8:30 PM

^^^ sorry goofed it up.

You need to set it up like this: [ quote ] then paste the part of the post you have copied. There are NO spaces between the brackets and the word quote. I’ve just added the spaces so It wouldn’t automatically format the post like I did above.

Hope that made sense.

by Anonymousreply 15May 22, 2020 8:34 PM

R15 I wonder how long it takes the average DLer to figure this out. It took me at least 6 months.

by Anonymousreply 16May 23, 2020 2:08 AM

R16 it was actually in the help section somewhere. I bet I couldn't find it again if I tried, though. Any of the Search features are not this site's strong suit, is it?

by Anonymousreply 17May 23, 2020 2:13 PM

R17 I consider it all a carefully planned metaphor from Muriel herself. Being a gay man doesn’t come with an instruction manual. You just have to figure it out as you go.

by Anonymousreply 18May 23, 2020 2:39 PM

Like being a parent, life doesn't come with an instruction manual and you're always still trying to figure it out no matter who or how old you are.

And then you die.

by Anonymousreply 19May 23, 2020 2:48 PM

[R17]Aside from the contributions we all make, what IS the site's strong suit? We provide all the content while the paid staff make no effort to provide even the most basic sort of online accommodations. I'll never understand why we don't all just start our own forum on another platform.

by Anonymousreply 20May 23, 2020 3:01 PM

To figure out how to work DL, see the Help button in the upper right? Click on that, then click on Need More Help. Cursor down to Post Formatting and all knowledge will be revealed. Then you will be a know it all.

by Anonymousreply 21May 23, 2020 4:35 PM

That's all very well and good, r21, but none of those options explain why I've been trying to upgrade my nonpaying membership for the past two months to a paying membership but the site won't accept my bank info when I click submit. Or tells you exactly how few times you can click on F&F before the option becomes grayed out in a 24 hour period.

[And then you die]

by Anonymousreply 23May 23, 2020 5:35 PM

by Anonymousreply 27May 23, 2020 5:39 PM

R26 just italic (singular)

by Anonymousreply 28May 23, 2020 5:39 PM

[quote] [bold] [italic] And then you die.

by Anonymousreply 29May 23, 2020 5:39 PM

I finally understand all the bracket functions.

Thanks everyone.

by Anonymousreply 30May 23, 2020 5:41 PM

[i]how do you do italics?

by Anonymousreply 31May 23, 2020 5:41 PM

[italic]how do you do italic?

by Anonymousreply 32May 23, 2020 5:41 PM

[italic][bold]Who is John Galt?

by Anonymousreply 33May 23, 2020 5:42 PM

[quote][italic][bold]i am the master baiter!

by Anonymousreply 34May 23, 2020 5:43 PM

R20 I think Muriel said in her AMA that there is no paid staff.
