[QUOTE] A new Fox poll finds Biden leading Trump by 8 points, with the Democrat opening up wide leads among independents and older voters who broke for Trump in 2016. Biden also leads 53% to 41% among voters who say they’re extremely motivated to vote in November.

You don’t have to click on it. Everything important is already right there beneath the subject, dear!

These numbers are ploy by FOX to lull Democrats into a false sense of security so they stay home on election day, thinking ' Oh we got this!'...
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 22, 2020 3:36 AM |
They’re trying to energize the base.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 22, 2020 3:50 AM |
His base doesn’t need fake poll numbers to be energized.

The Fox News pollster actually has a good reputation in the polling industry.
The polling for Fox is conducted by 2 pollsters -- a Democratic pollster (Beacon Research) and a Republican pollster (Shaw & Company).

Isn't Biden up by 9 or 11 or something in another big poll that just came out?
The Faux Noise poll is tighter but in line with the other poll.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 22, 2020 6:12 AM |
Yes, R14. Biden is up by 11 points in this week's Quinnipiac poll.
The Fox poll lead for Biden may be smaller than Quinnipiac, but it's still a pretty big lead compared to some other pollsters who are showing smaller leads.

These simpletons who think Fox News just makes up numbers never cease to amaze me. They probably imagine Sean Hannity personally conducted the poll.

You mean he doesn't ?? WHAT !???
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 22, 2020 6:42 AM |
Any network that airs Hannity is suspect in my eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 22, 2020 6:44 AM |
Soon Hannity will be replaced by a life-sized bobblehead doll. And no one will notice for at least a week.

by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 23, 2020 2:15 AM |
Yeah R27 you’re right: he’s even worse now, and Americans can actually feel the repercussions of his actions as president rather than having to imagine them.

Worse in more ways than one.
- In 2016, he actually had a few competent people in his campaign and they managed to keep him mostly off of Twitter during the final critical period before Election Day. He's off the hook now. Nobody is stopping him; nobody is reining him in at all; he's totally convinced that he's this amazing campaigner. And the data show that the more exposure he has, the worse it gets for him.
- He's all in on his rabid base. He hasn't even tried to expand that base, to moderate, to bring back the suburban voters, white women, etc. Right now, there is no sign that he or his campaign know how to expand that base. And certainly no sign that Trump is even willing to try.
- A critical tiny percentage of voters in 2016 were able to persuade themselves that Trump was a successful businessman, that he was going to "clean up the swamp," that he was competent. Nobody outside his base thinks that anymore.
The electorate pretty much has its mind made up on Trump, with very few people on the fence. That's why Republicans are going all in on voter suppression. Because what else do they have?
That said, the usual disclaimers apply: absent some additional catastrophe, he's just about guaranteed 40 to 45 percent of the vote and a sizable percentage of the electoral vote. There is a long way between now and November and a lot can happen, both good and bad. Neither Biden nor Trump is a lock to win (or lose), no matter how much wishful thinking we indulge in.
It's also worth pointing out that Trump's voters inhabit a completely different world than the one we live in. In the OAN, Fox, Breitbart, HotAir, RedState, NY Post, WSJ world, Trump has been an amazing success; he's saved tens of thousands of lives in the current pandemic; he's been hounded unfairly by Democrats because they're such failures and losers they can't run on their policies; he singlehandedly saved the economy and he's the only one who can bring it back. I really wish I were joking or exaggerating.
