Your face in photos

Do you look better, worse, or the same?

by Anonymousreply 47May 22, 2020 4:29 PM

Ugly, both ways.

by Anonymousreply 1May 21, 2020 7:18 PM

Worse, usually. Every once in awhile there’s a good photo and I treasure it like a rare pearl.

by Anonymousreply 2May 21, 2020 7:22 PM

My face looks ten pounds fatter. I have unremarkable looking friends who look like models in pictures. I guess its the planes of your face.

by Anonymousreply 3May 21, 2020 7:24 PM

I'm glad I'm not dating today. I'm a decent looking guy in person and in videos, and am approachable. BUT I look like a honeydew in photos, and ain't no way anyone would even say hello on an app based on pics.

by Anonymousreply 4May 21, 2020 7:28 PM

A lot of people look pudgy in pics. I think you need a slightly harsh, rangy face to look good. A lot of models have that extreme look in person.

by Anonymousreply 5May 21, 2020 7:32 PM

I think I look pretty decent in person but I tend to look like an angry lesbian in pics (I'm a guy, by the way).

by Anonymousreply 6May 21, 2020 7:36 PM

I hate pictures of myself. In some I look fantastic,in most I look like Quasimodo. Yet most of my life I was told how attractive I was . Go figure.

by Anonymousreply 7May 21, 2020 7:37 PM

It's not that I look better or worse, but that I look completely different in a picture than I do in the mirror.

by Anonymousreply 8May 21, 2020 7:42 PM

Worse

by Anonymousreply 9May 21, 2020 9:07 PM

What R8 said. I just don't usually look like myself. My father could always take a good picture of me, because he had an eye for photography. One of my partner's aunts also took decent pictures.

by Anonymousreply 10May 21, 2020 9:22 PM

My face looks fatter, older. My skin looks pale and ugly. I hate myself

by Anonymousreply 11May 21, 2020 9:24 PM

[Quote] Your face in photos

Yeah, I avoid that.

by Anonymousreply 12May 21, 2020 9:29 PM

I stopped taking pictures of myself years ago; I don't need to see that.

by Anonymousreply 13May 21, 2020 9:41 PM

It's weird because, as mentioned above, I looked like I have a fat face syndrome in photos, even though I'm in great shape , until this virus I worked out at the gym 5-6 times a week

But I get told I'm "good looking" a lot in person and when I had photos up on SCRUFF, I had almost 100 different WOOFS and messages from guys wanting to hook up with me and I only had an account there for three months

It's very weird...

by Anonymousreply 14May 21, 2020 9:42 PM

I dunno - some tell me I'm good looking but I don;'t see it.

by Anonymousreply 15May 21, 2020 9:49 PM

R15 also camera phone pictures alter your face

by Anonymousreply 16May 21, 2020 9:57 PM

I have no idea what happens when a camera is turned on my face. I can look in the mirror, then snap a photo and my face/neck look horribly fat and I feel I look 10-15 years older. I receive frequent compliments on my skin, so am not sure what the camera does to my face. Note - frequent compliments on my skin does not equal me saying I look 20 years younger than my age, which is a DL thing in certain corners.

Here’s Why You Look Good in the Mirror But Bad in Photos

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 18May 21, 2020 10:14 PM

That doesn’t explain the fatter face and the worse skin in pictures. I think it also may be the iPhone.

by Anonymousreply 19May 21, 2020 10:18 PM

Yes, everyone thinks they look better in the mirror than when they see a picture of themself.

by Anonymousreply 20May 21, 2020 10:19 PM

My eyes also tend to go from 0 to Crazytown the second a camera is pointed at it.

by Anonymousreply 21May 21, 2020 10:25 PM

Ha!

I just took two recent photos of me and flipped them, as per R18 and I definitely look more like "myself" in the photos.

Thanks!

by Anonymousreply 22May 21, 2020 10:26 PM

Suddenly last summer I looked very, very old

by Anonymousreply 23May 21, 2020 10:40 PM

[quote] My eyes also tend to go from 0 to Crazytown the second a camera is pointed at it.

Me too r21. Crazy like Ramona Singer on the catwalk.

by Anonymousreply 24May 21, 2020 10:59 PM

People generally find me attractive, but I feel like I look horrid in photos.

by Anonymousreply 25May 21, 2020 11:02 PM

I am extremely unphotogenic

by Anonymousreply 26May 21, 2020 11:02 PM

Isn't there a good photo app for the iPhone that can flatten the face? I heard that helps to get a more realistic look. If there is one, I haven't been able to find it.

by Anonymousreply 27May 21, 2020 11:14 PM

Worse. My nose always looks bigger.

by Anonymousreply 28May 21, 2020 11:16 PM

Try a ring light, guys. Make sure the light adjusts from bluish to yellowish. Adjust the light closer to yellow. You'll look a lot better.

by Anonymousreply 29May 21, 2020 11:19 PM

Facetune!

It's what your favorite instagay uses to look their best in their inspiring ig posts!

by Anonymousreply 30May 21, 2020 11:59 PM

I won't ZOOM as I look like an old

by Anonymousreply 31May 22, 2020 12:03 AM

If you make an error and have your phone camera on showing your neck and chin it’s devastating.

by Anonymousreply 32May 22, 2020 12:06 AM

LOL - r18's article is pretty true.

I just tried flipping a picture of myself and it now looks exactly like I look in the mirror - it makes a HUGE difference.

by Anonymousreply 33May 22, 2020 3:56 AM

Not for me, r33. My face is fairly symmetrical, so it doesn't make my pics any better lol. I look alright in person, but the camera hates me.

by Anonymousreply 34May 22, 2020 4:10 AM

I look awful and I'm not a bad looking person. I have a friend who has moles on his face (ala Robert Redford) but he looks great in photos! Why the fuck are some people so photogenic? The only satisfaction (and I admit this is cheap) is that when people meet him they must be shocked at his moles.

by Anonymousreply 35May 22, 2020 4:49 AM

I get a lot of attention in person, in photos I look awful. Getting a good photo is a huge chore, but possible.

by Anonymousreply 36May 22, 2020 4:57 AM

[quote]It's very weird...

You mean the humblebragging, R14?

by Anonymousreply 37May 22, 2020 5:08 AM

My face has been ugly since I was 11. I can't even stand to look in the mirror, and I run anytime someone pulls out a camera (or obviously points their smartphone towards me). Perhaps 1% of the time, I get a good photo by a fluke. So, if I need a selfie photo of myself, I'll take about 50 pics, and select the one that offends me the least. The last time I went to the DMV, the photographer took my picture, and then she looked at the resulting image on her monitor. She shook her head and said, "Let's try to take another photo." She shot my photo again, and the result wasn't any better. She gave up, and decided to go with the second photo.

by Anonymousreply 38May 22, 2020 5:09 AM

R38, I hope that you will start to appreciate your face at some point. I know it sounds corny, but ten years from now, you'll realize how beautiful (or not-bad looking) you were. Nice of the DMV lady to take a 2nd picture.

by Anonymousreply 39May 22, 2020 5:14 AM

I look awful in photographs so now I just use a scanner.

by Anonymousreply 40May 22, 2020 6:03 AM

I have maybe 10-12 photos of myself as an adult that I look nice in. The vast majority are kind of frightening. And the Zoom shit is the bargain basement level of blobby blotchy unsightliness.

by Anonymousreply 41May 22, 2020 6:12 AM

I look moon faced in pictures. I am so unphotogenic I generally run when I see cameras come out.

by Anonymousreply 42May 22, 2020 7:39 AM

I take better unposed, candid photos though. It's weird.

by Anonymousreply 43May 22, 2020 7:43 AM

Stick your head out when your picture is being taken and zoom in on your face when taking a selfie. Hello! Muva Tyra Banks told us this years ago

by Anonymousreply 44May 22, 2020 7:46 AM

I dismiss photos on the grounds that that simply can’t be me

by Anonymousreply 45May 22, 2020 12:18 PM

R44 Stick your head out of what?

by Anonymousreply 46May 22, 2020 12:19 PM

[quote] Stick your head out of what?

The window, Rose.
