Raymond Burr

Picked up a sailor and introduced him to people as his "nephew" (LOL)

Kind of like Papa Rackover and his "son"

Too bad his kid and his wife died in a tragic plane crash!

Who is Papa Rackover?

"Even Barbara Hale, one of Raymond's closest confidantes, had trouble piercing his protective armor. Or, if Raymond did confide in Barbara, he swore her to secrecy. According to Hale, "He had a great love for Barbara Stanwyck and for Natalie Wood . . . but he said, 'I was too old for [Wood], but oh, my gosh, Barbara.'"

I think Stanwyck might have gone for that marriage...

Why invent? He actually was married for real for 6 years.

From the first sentence of the article (which is from 2008):

[quote]Raymond Burr, who played Perry Mason in the wildly popular television show "Perry Mason" and later in "Ironside," lived a secret gay life in Hollywood when such a revelation would destroy a career.

He didn't play Perry Mason in "Ironside." I guess editing standards were pretty bad even in the last decade.
