Dear lord. Are the results in proportion to how shitty and fucked up their cultures really are?

by Anonymousreply 1May 18, 2020 9:24 PM

White people bad!

by Anonymousreply 2May 18, 2020 9:33 PM

Greece? Lmfao

by Anonymousreply 3May 18, 2020 9:37 PM

Hilariously, the results seem completely in reverse proportion to reality..

by Anonymousreply 4May 18, 2020 9:38 PM

Don't point your finger until you see some data on how many Americans think American culture is superior to others'.

by Anonymousreply 5May 18, 2020 9:40 PM

I like Greek food. And the antiquities, of course.

That said, there's not a nation on that list that the rest of the planet would not be better off without.

Just saying.

by Anonymousreply 6May 18, 2020 9:41 PM

These are like Europe's version of red states, right?

by Anonymousreply 7May 18, 2020 9:41 PM

C’mon - moussaka isn’t THAT good.

by Anonymousreply 8May 18, 2020 9:43 PM

Greece is known to have a superiority complex. Cradle of Western civilization, birthplace of democracy, etc.

by Anonymousreply 9May 18, 2020 9:48 PM

r6 What's Slovakia ever done to you?

by Anonymousreply 10May 18, 2020 9:49 PM

I think it is obvious that a lot of the respondents lied...

by Anonymousreply 11May 18, 2020 9:52 PM

R6 wow, that's super racist. I'm sure that you wouldn't think twice about saying that out loud about a brown country, sick fuck.

by Anonymousreply 12May 18, 2020 9:52 PM

Romania?

by Anonymousreply 13May 18, 2020 9:55 PM

R9 I mean, they're not wrong though. People are still using the inventions from their cultural zenith 2,400 years ago. Kind of a testament to their culture's superiority, but I almost forgot that whites are EVIL!

by Anonymousreply 14May 18, 2020 9:55 PM

Culture is not a nation's economy, politics, or military strength. Nice to see that these countries have a high regard for their culture, regardless of our opinion.

by Anonymousreply 15May 18, 2020 9:59 PM

Only 26% in Sweden? I don't believe that for a second.

by Anonymousreply 16May 18, 2020 10:03 PM

I get why Greece would think so, considering the lasting impact of ancient Greek culture. Georgia's self-importance is hilarious though.

by Anonymousreply 17May 18, 2020 10:09 PM

So does this mean that having no pride in one's culture is something to be proud of? And having pride in one's culture is something to be ashamed of?

by Anonymousreply 18May 18, 2020 10:10 PM

Russia? I guess they are proud of the culture of drunks and whores.

by Anonymousreply 19May 18, 2020 10:12 PM

R18 Yes and yes. Globalism doesn't like borders.

by Anonymousreply 20May 18, 2020 10:12 PM

R19, like Comrade Putin said, Russian whores are the best.

by Anonymousreply 21May 18, 2020 10:16 PM

chauvinism

/ˈʃəʊv(ɪ)nɪz(ə)m noun

exaggerated or aggressive patriotism. "public opinion was easily moved to chauvinism and nationalism"

by Anonymousreply 22May 18, 2020 10:17 PM

r17 To be fair they did invent Wine which is frankly far more use to most people than Plato.

by Anonymousreply 23May 18, 2020 10:17 PM

I don't see Mexico on the list.

by Anonymousreply 24May 18, 2020 10:19 PM

Some major delusions on that list.

by Anonymousreply 25May 18, 2020 10:20 PM

[quote]Spaniards are the least likely to say their culture is superior to others.

Which is probably why it is such a fabulous place to go and to live.

by Anonymousreply 26May 18, 2020 10:24 PM

It's interesting to see major European nations with vast cultural legacies and impact like France, Spain and Britain take a comparatively modest and rational assessment of their impact. France is particularly surprising.

by Anonymousreply 27May 18, 2020 10:48 PM

R27 France has always been the world's little bitch.

by Anonymousreply 28May 18, 2020 10:58 PM

R27, I'd like to see the questions and how they were asked in each country. The question might've been framed differently in each country, e.g. national pride vs. impact on other countries vs. history.

by Anonymousreply 29May 18, 2020 10:58 PM

France has been taught to hate their own culture because it is based in western liberalism.

The immigrants don’t like that, so the French people have rejected the enlightenment for political correctness.

by Anonymousreply 30May 18, 2020 11:04 PM

R16

Once again, their leaders have brainwashed them into believing PoMo bullshit.

They reject their culture because it offends the immigrants living on welfare.

by Anonymousreply 31May 18, 2020 11:06 PM

These results are hilarious. I’m surprised about Italy

by Anonymousreply 32May 18, 2020 11:07 PM

[R20] Nail on head. Notice how only desirable Western countries are harangued in this manner? Liberal democracies with openness to immigration and foreigners are ironically condemned as being insular, xenophobic and bigoted. The U.S. is BY FAR the country that takes in the most immigrants in the world. BY FAR. I believe we accept more immigrants than all the other countries of the world combined. Yet rich and powerful countries like China and Japan are not looked upon as being xenophobic or lacking "diversity" - because globalist know they can't sell their bullshit in those places.

by Anonymousreply 33May 18, 2020 11:08 PM

‚‘If you’re so smart, why aren’t you rich....?‘

by Anonymousreply 34May 19, 2020 1:27 AM

R16 Sweden is home to smug liberal self-debasement, where you prove your superiority by pretending to feel inferior. Complex.

by Anonymousreply 35May 19, 2020 1:31 AM

Modern Greeks are not the same people as ancient Greeks. Different stock.

by Anonymousreply 36May 19, 2020 1:34 AM

Don't forget that same-sex relations were considered normal in ancient Greece.

by Anonymousreply 37May 19, 2020 1:37 AM

Bosnians are insufferable. Huge superiority complex. Almost as bad as the Swedes.

by Anonymousreply 38May 19, 2020 1:38 AM

Swedes are quite laid-back and friendly, in my experience. Norwegians can be prickly. Danish are lovely. Dutch are arrogant and condescending. Austrians are just cunts. CUNTS.

by Anonymousreply 39May 19, 2020 1:53 AM

I've been to Bosnia. The people were lovely.

I wished I had visited Sarajevo, however. Maybe after Corona is over...

by Anonymousreply 40May 19, 2020 2:02 AM

The Bosnians and Swedes I knew were in the U.S. some one generation, some longer.

by Anonymousreply 41May 19, 2020 2:08 AM

Bulgarians seem to suffer from some kind of mass delusion in their population. It honestly made me laugh out loud.

by Anonymousreply 42May 19, 2020 2:16 AM

I'm not surprised at Romania being up there, as some consider themselves a Latin country surrounded by a sea of Slavs. Unfortunately, most of Europe mainly associates them with the negative stereotypes of gypsies (Romani).

Bucharest has some appalling architecture and a very sad street dog problem, but the countryside is pretty.

by Anonymousreply 43May 28, 2020 12:13 AM

Those countries have the least to be proud of. Talk about shitholes!

by Anonymousreply 44May 28, 2020 2:02 AM

If Americans knew anything about world history they'd understand the Greek response. Most Americans cannot even find Greece on a map. Tragic.

by Anonymousreply 45May 28, 2020 2:47 AM

R45, Greece's shape always reminded me an outstretched hand. That's how I remembered it anyhow.

Excellent food, marvelous history.

by Anonymousreply 46May 28, 2020 2:54 AM

R46 and only 173 people dead of the Covid in Greece.

They're doing something right.

by Anonymousreply 47May 28, 2020 3:02 AM

R2 = This.

Racist asshole.

Good for Greece. Small country with some economic challenges although things are getting better. At this time, Greece needs to have its population supporting the country.

I'm surprised Italy and Germany aren't higher.

Glad that Turkey is not included seeing that it's not European.

by Anonymousreply 49May 28, 2020 3:47 AM

R47. Greece has been incredibly strict during the COVID crisis. The government had the entire population on lock-down including controlling movement with drones, although things are loosening now. You had to even report to the government when you were going to walk your dog. The government was relentless in flattening the curve and keeping the coronavirus to a minimum. It worked. Greece led Europe in the least amount of illnesses and deaths.

by Anonymousreply 50May 28, 2020 3:52 AM

There is nothing like sunsets over the Aegean. They're grand, gorgeous and mesmerizing.

by Anonymousreply 51May 28, 2020 3:54 AM

I think the French mainly feel their language is superior

by Anonymousreply 52May 28, 2020 4:05 AM

R52, probably food as well. They have certain expectations for quality of food, technique and preparation. It's more than just eating food -- it's a lifestyle.

by Anonymousreply 53May 28, 2020 4:13 AM

Agree R53

by Anonymousreply 54May 28, 2020 9:53 AM

I think the top countries are compensating fir being looked down on by Western Europe that and the wars in the nineties so it makes sense that Bosnia f.e is very nationalistic. They bled to see their state independent.

by Anonymousreply 55May 28, 2020 9:56 AM

The Greeks created the word Xenophobia.

by Anonymousreply 56May 28, 2020 10:27 AM

This is clearly biased toward volunteered chauvinism versus attitudinal chauvinism. Otherwise Sweden and the Netherlands would be at the top of the list.

Spain is modest because they went through the much longer and more recent experience of Franco. The others are about insecurity/bravado mostly.

by Anonymousreply 57May 28, 2020 10:59 AM

I was watching the Lance doc on ESPN. The bikers were describing the attitudes of the European racers. Italy, vain, boisterous, fun. Spain, modest, humble. Belgium, workman like, not too ambitious, France, superior, Germany, organized, workmen.
