NYC is not the same. People watch these old movies and romanticize this city. It’s changed.

by Anonymousreply 1May 16, 2020 3:19 AM

Please do!

A LOT of pussies who keep saying it's over and how they wish it was like the 70s saw two homeless people and so they're ALL leaving right now! What they wanted was to play SaTC for a year or so, but damn, it's so expensive and they're craving a backyard so bad!

We'd love to have you!

Will a 700 dollar Manhattan studio be available soon?

by Anonymousreply 3May 16, 2020 3:27 AM

Right? With so many people fleeing. You live there in a closet for the city sights and activities. You barely spend any time in the apartment. Every thing is done outside.

Except now. Normally it's normal.

NYC HAS TOO MANY PEOPLE.

by Anonymousreply 5May 16, 2020 4:22 AM

OP= Melania Trump

by Anonymousreply 6May 16, 2020 1:09 PM

I'm so over New York City. There are so many other places in the world.

by Anonymousreply 7May 16, 2020 1:18 PM

I hear you can get a coldwater flat for $50.00/mo. The city is just begging for secretaries and typists!

by Anonymousreply 8May 16, 2020 1:27 PM

I am moving to NYC ASAP when this is done... There will be a lot of opportunity.

by Anonymousreply 9May 16, 2020 2:14 PM

I don't get the appeal of NYC. I lived in Manhattan for 3 months during my PhD exchange. To me NYC is too crowded, too dirty and too expensive. No thanks.

by Anonymousreply 10May 16, 2020 2:44 PM

Which area is more preferable ? Hells Kitchen, Chelsea, SOHO, West Village ? Im not interested in pick up areas...Im looking at residential areas.

by Anonymousreply 11May 16, 2020 2:49 PM

The obsession with NYC is due to the media and entertainment industry always pushing it r10. Literally.

It’s weird how it has been made the end all to be all city, when it is not even original anymore. It’s generic.

by Anonymousreply 12May 16, 2020 2:53 PM

Don’t listen to the haters. NYC was, is and always will be a special place. And part of what makes it that way is people coming from all over the world to live here. :)

by Anonymousreply 13May 16, 2020 2:54 PM

R13 what is special about it?

by Anonymousreply 14May 16, 2020 2:58 PM

It may be special, but it's not the be all end all it's made out to be bu unoriginal posers. The world is changing. There are other places.

by Anonymousreply 15May 16, 2020 3:10 PM

We’ll welcome you with open knives, OP.

by Anonymousreply 16May 16, 2020 3:13 PM

I've lived 20 miles north of NYC all my live, accessible by a 35 min train ride. That's close enough.

Ranks of those moving out of NYC are largely from two camps; people already considering doing so, and covid-19 just brought those plans forward, and many non-native NYer's who are wound a bit too tightly and see covid-19 everywhere they look outside their own protected little bubble of a home.

R14, I was born here and have lived in Brooklyn my entire life. It’s not a utopia - nowhere is - and has its problems. However, it works somehow. There are people here from all over the world, most of whom came here deliberately and want to be here. And even though I know there are those on DL who don’t like “the transplants,” the influx of different people is part of what keeps it interesting. Everything is here, and you can learn about it, if you choose. Or you can just enjoy the privacy and anonymity big cities offer. It’s not a particularly convenient place but has its rewards. I’m not exaggerating when I say my identity as a NYer is stronger than my identity as American.

by Anonymousreply 20May 16, 2020 4:32 PM

R20 is R13 responding to R14. :)

by Anonymousreply 21May 16, 2020 4:32 PM

I want to move to an oasis town in Tunisia or Algeria. I wish Algeria were more stable.
