This is kind of fun.

Lovely performances and a very infectious song. Probably one of the last truly great Broadway musicals.

by Anonymousreply 1May 16, 2020 12:45 AM

I was prepared to make fun of this, but it’s one of the few performances of its ilk that was any good. 9/10.

by Anonymousreply 2May 16, 2020 1:20 AM

We had a thread on this earlier today but now it seems to have disappeared.

by Anonymousreply 3May 16, 2020 1:22 AM

That was great! Thanks, OP!

by Anonymousreply 4May 16, 2020 1:33 AM

Love this show - and this number. So many great faces in the cast!

by Anonymousreply 5May 16, 2020 1:37 AM

Ricki looks great.

by Anonymousreply 6May 16, 2020 1:41 AM

Why is Randy Rainbow in this?

by Anonymousreply 7May 16, 2020 1:49 AM

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT.

by Anonymousreply 8May 16, 2020 1:51 AM

I'm always in tears by the end of this song. It's so optimistic and then I think of how the world really is and I can't help myself.

by Anonymousreply 9May 16, 2020 2:02 AM

Bump for those who haven't seen it.

by Anonymousreply 10May 16, 2020 9:58 PM

r9 The show opened on Broadway only a year after 9/11, so the world wasn't perfect back then either. Makes you think what kind of creativity is in store once the current crisis blows over.

by Anonymousreply 11May 16, 2020 10:04 PM

Those FUCKERS didn’t even think to bring a webcam to my grave so that my ghost could perform on Zoom!😡

by Anonymousreply 12May 16, 2020 10:09 PM

"Makes you think what kind of creativity is in store once the current crisis blows over."

More "Slave Play" shows and full-on woke Broadway. That's what passes for creativity these days. Let's put a woman as the central figure of " Company." Let's have a black Hermoine. Wow! Creative!

by Anonymousreply 13May 16, 2020 10:12 PM

"Why is Randy Rainbow in this?"

Probably because of his parody of Trump that got so much publicity, " You Can't Stop the Tweets."

r12 They didn't ask me either, and I'm alive.

by Anonymousreply 15May 17, 2020 1:59 AM

OR ME!

by Anonymousreply 16May 17, 2020 3:00 AM

I saw the original Broadway cast and the LA show with Bruce Vilanch......both were surprisingly life affirming and hopeful nights.....who knew John Waters would eventually inspire???? I remember seeing the original film in the theater as well and loved Ricki Lake.....if Biden wins, this would be a great live performance idea for one of his inauguration events.....and I am one of those saps who ends up crying by the time this song is finished.....

by Anonymousreply 17May 17, 2020 3:45 AM

For me, nothing beats the original John Waters movie. And Ricki Lake is the best Tracy Turnblad by miles.....!!

by Anonymousreply 18May 17, 2020 3:59 AM

I thought Nikki Blonsky was an incredible Tracy Turnblad and I've seen four or five of them!

Jackie Hoffman! Jennifer Lewis! Andrea Martin!

What great fun, and lots of the original Broadway choreography I see from Jerry Mitchell (also included)!

by Anonymousreply 19May 17, 2020 6:08 AM

I'm guessing they didn't bother to ask John.

by Anonymousreply 20May 17, 2020 8:47 AM

Always nice to see Darlene Love.

by Anonymousreply 21May 17, 2020 1:13 PM

What brand if earbuds does Ricki sport?

by Anonymousreply 22May 17, 2020 2:33 PM

This is terrific. CBS and the Tonys are fools not to put a night of music together for broadcast.

by Anonymousreply 23May 17, 2020 3:06 PM

I smiled throughout! A real pick-me-up!

by Anonymousreply 24May 17, 2020 3:41 PM

R20 Yeah, kind of odd they didn't. Or maybe he couldn't participate for some reason...

by Anonymousreply 25May 17, 2020 8:45 PM

Zac Efron didn't do the High School Musical reunion and now this and you know they asked him especially since the movie director Adam Shankman was in it.

by Anonymousreply 26May 17, 2020 10:23 PM

OK fellow homosexuals, you will know, I'm obsessed with backdrop of Laura Bell Bundy. They look like sheer drapes with trees on them or they are a wall covering, What is it? Love it. Go 24 seconds in.

by Anonymousreply 27May 18, 2020 7:48 AM

Bump

by Anonymousreply 28May 18, 2020 7:19 PM

I've had a big, goofy smile on my face since I found this.

Plus, big-booty'd Garrett Clayton shaking his big booty.

by Anonymousreply 29May 18, 2020 10:13 PM

Zac Efron has spoken openly about his hatred for almost every movie he’s been in minus like one or two.

by Anonymousreply 30May 24, 2020 1:57 PM

I really needed to see this today. Thank you!

by Anonymousreply 31May 24, 2020 2:09 PM

Does Mathew Morrison have the Covid?

by Anonymousreply 32May 24, 2020 2:14 PM

Delightful.
