Four Kroger employees in Michigan are among the dozens of grocery store workers around the country that have died of COVID-19, the company told the Detroit Free Press. Thousands of others have tested positive, according to the UFCW.

Why now? The pandemic is just getting started.

by Anonymousreply 1May 14, 2020 4:39 PM

The customers are returning to shopping inside the stores so they no longer are carrying the entire burden. But they definitely should get something extra for having to wear those damn masks all shift.

by Anonymousreply 2May 14, 2020 4:39 PM

Kroger's sucks. Their stores always seem dirty except for the superstores. When I'm in Texas I always go to HEB.

??

The more customers visiting the store, the riskier it is for workers.

Will Shameful acts by hedge funds finally be called out?

The destruction by these funds touch the lives of every American, yet they know little about them.

Hedge funds are the vehicle used to dismantle America, piece by piece.

This is just a sample of how the hedgies buy up respected brands, then coast off of their name while they cut-corners and screw the customers and employees.

“BAIN: The firm was founded in 1984 by partners from the consulting firm Bain & Company.[4] Since inception it has invested in or acquired hundreds of companies including AMC Theatres, Artisan Entertainment, Aspen Education Group, Brookstone, Burger King, Burlington Coat Factory, Canada Goose, DIC Entertainment, Domino's Pizza, DoubleClick, Dunkin' Donuts, D&M Holdings, Guitar Center, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), iHeartMedia, KB Toys, Sealy, Sports Authority, Staples, Toys "R" Us, Warner Music Group, Fingerhut, The Weather Channel, and Apple Leisure Group, ...”

The stores are busier than they've ever been. People aren't as afraid to go out as they were a month ago, but there's still very few places to actually go. More work than ever for the employees.

Like Montgomery Ward before it, these investor trash bags will see to running all these once prestigious brands directly into the ground.

by Anonymousreply 9May 14, 2020 5:42 PM

Kroger's had a terrible time keeping items in stock, noticeably so.

by Anonymousreply 10May 14, 2020 5:44 PM

What do a bunch of blood sucking evil vulture capilists know about customer service?

They sure don’t know anything about sanitation. Notice the custodians are the first thing to go once the new Jeffie accountants take over. It’s like a contest to see who can cut the most and stay in business.

These investor trasholes know that once you leave a layer of dirt on the grocery store floors, after a while, no one notices!

And don’t get me started on the parking lots (aka landfills).

by Anonymousreply 11May 14, 2020 5:49 PM

These $100 million dollar, 10 acre lots on Long Island are not going to buy themselves.

by Anonymousreply 12May 14, 2020 5:51 PM

How selfish, all grocers are making Thanksgiving level profits. They should just end the bonus when a specific state ends their stay at home rules.

by Anonymousreply 13May 14, 2020 5:52 PM

Why is it that the lower the National wages go, the higher the real estate prices go in the Hamptons?

Is there a connection?

by Anonymousreply 16May 14, 2020 6:33 PM

Kroger’s deli should have a sale on hero sandwiches...limited time only!

by Anonymousreply 17May 14, 2020 6:59 PM

We're all in this together!

[quote]Kroger's sucks. Their stores always seem dirty except for the superstores. When I'm in Texas I always go to HEB.

I live in New Mexico and Smith's Food and Drug is subsidiary of Kroger and most of their stories here have always seem dirty. My cousin's husband was a delivery man for a company that supplied beer and wine products and he said the Smith's stores he visited were the worst ones. He said that backrooms were crowded, and filthy. In most stores he said that most of the receiving managers and the employees were awful and he mentioned how one store an employee was leaving the company and told him that Smith/Kroger was almost just as bad as Walmart.

by Anonymousreply 19May 14, 2020 7:14 PM

One reason Krogers seem dirtier is that they are older and more cramped than the newly-constructed HEBs. Kroger's has better produce but HEB is better in virtually every other way.

by Anonymousreply 20May 14, 2020 7:19 PM

and they get paid in krogerrands.

by Anonymousreply 21May 14, 2020 7:51 PM

Sure makes you want to get up in the morning and put on that name tag and go to work.

by Anonymousreply 22May 15, 2020 3:47 AM

Seems a little uneven to say the least.

by Anonymousreply 23May 15, 2020 5:13 PM

I guess this applies to Harris Teeter too

by Anonymousreply 24May 16, 2020 11:48 AM

R24 Yup, all the chains that subsidiaries of Kroger are getting the hero pay cut today.

by Anonymousreply 25May 16, 2020 6:00 PM

Like Trump, Kroger changed its mind at the first hint of backlash.

I'm so sick of these people being labeled "heroes". You have to go in the store and shop for yourself because these idiots can't put an order together for you. I hate these people as much as I hate these attention seeking bitch nurses too. I'm just as much a hero as these butt holes. Fuck them and their "hero pay". I hope they all get AIDS.

by Anonymousreply 27May 16, 2020 7:04 PM

R27 Rest assured, they hate you too.

by Anonymousreply 28May 16, 2020 7:54 PM

What a sad little thing you are r27. Ignoredar also shows me you are that troll that goes around falsely claiming there is an existing thread with your repetitive diatribe.

by Anonymousreply 29May 16, 2020 9:45 PM

27- do fuck off incel. Nobody in your entire life ever loved you.

I'm not shopping at Kroger now. Fuck them. I'm posting on my social media about this reversal or not.

by Anonymousreply 30May 16, 2020 9:54 PM

They’re disgraceful!

by Anonymousreply 31May 17, 2020 12:06 AM

I'm so glad they are doing this.

by Anonymousreply 32May 17, 2020 12:19 AM
