by Anonymousreply 13May 12, 2020 6:31 AM

R10 you only need to watch season 4 of Angel to get why Charisma was pissed. Don't know what the deal was with Amy (I thought she was fucking Joss).

James Garner had legal problems with the producers of Maverick and the Rockford Files. He accused the Rockford producers of "creatively accounting," which phrase caught on. I think he was told after the Maverick dispute that he wouldn't work in TV again.

Any Acker worked with Joss again on Dollhouse.

Don Knotts wanted more money, but the producers of TAGS and Andy (who was given producer credit) didn’t budge. Don left and the show became unwatchable. He’s a rare character/actor that could not be replaced. Turns out Barney WAS the show.

I would be great if people listed anecdotes instead of just listing names.

Roy Huggins, who created Maverick also had problems with Warner regarding that show---they wouldn't give him creator credit for Maverick or for 77 Sunset Strip which spawned several other shows (Hawaiian Eye, Surfside 6, Bourbon Street Beat). Garner's problem was with Warners, not the producer of Maverick, who was Higgins who also co-created Garner's Rockford Files series. Garner had no problem working in film and coming back to television. Warners tried to recreate what they had done in the early days with film on television (underpay contract players and undermine creatives), which is why they were reduced to having very few shows on the air in little time.

Roseanne famously squabbled with creator Matt Williams over the content of the show and her dialogue. She had him fired after the first season.

by Anonymousreply 20May 12, 2020 8:35 PM

Ken Levine has or had some blog that detailed the difficulties Roseanne had with writers and producers. Also, several years back a woman who had worked as a stand in on Roseanne also blogged about how difficult Roseanne with most people on set except most of the cast members. The stand in gave some mention to issues between Roseanne and John Goodman.

R18 - I agree.

by Anonymousreply 22May 12, 2020 10:59 PM

Matthew Fox and the Party of Five producers argued over the writing and storylines of the show. He said something about not liking a few storylines.

I remember watching some documentary on Laverne and Shirley years ago and Cindy Williams had issues with Penny and Gary Marshall regarding the writing of the show and she disliked that they employed childhood pals as writers on the show.
