Are there still Hare Krishnas?

Anti gay. So fuck them.

There is still a vedic college here in Kansas City. I've visited there a couple of times out of morbid curiosity. The Hare Krishnas mostly attract ex-felons and recovering alcoholics/drug addicts.

There was a sort of “preach off” between an old, white street evangelist with an amplifier and a group of Hare Krishnas on Powell Street by the cable car turnaround in SF this past Christmas Eve.

He was giving it all he had, calling everyone whores and sodomites, while the much younger youths were dancing with finger cymbals and chanting. Paying him no attention whatsoever.

I also happened upon a large regional gathering of Krishnas in Golden Gate Park about 10 years back. Was riding my bike and thought it was some type of Carnival so I stopped.

They paid me no attention, as everyone was twirling and chanting and grinning ear to ear. I didn’t sample the food (hello MichFest!) and no one spoke to me. They just smiled and nodded when I passed them.

Huh R2 right behind Rockhurst University. I never knew.
