California professor and wife scream the N-word at neighbors over the 'smell of their cooking'

As the 2020 election heats up, we’ll see more of these posts in an attempt to heighten racial animus in the US.
Don’t fall for it.

American newspapers won't print stories like this because it doesn't fit the liberal narrative that racists only live in red states.

I would guess that probably half the people in academia are mentally ill.

This has been all over our local Reddit. Mrs. Ford has since entered rehab, of course. It says a lot that he's an associate professor making $110K, has taught at Sac State for years and lives in a crappy apartment complex. The complex has hired a lawyer.
Another fun tidbit about Ford. In his Macroeconomics class, he uses beer an hookers as examples to illustrate the supply curve (my professor used yams and xylophones). Incidentally, his specialty is sports economics. He hasn't published in years.

Where do you think the DM gets their stories from? Hmm? The story's gotten ample coverage in the Sacramento Bee, a paper that had to remove its comment section for a while because it was inundated with right wing loonies from outlying counties. And this was around 2010. The paper had an article about rattlesnake hatching season and its danger to dogs. Thirteen pages of Jerry Brown and state legislature hate though. There wasn't a comment about the actual topic until the third page.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 11, 2020 3:36 PM |
Almost all online news sites have removed their Comments sections. Yahoo still has one.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 11, 2020 3:40 PM |
The comments section was brought back and now requires Facebook, Google, etc for registration. Before it was essentially anonymous registration with any e-mail. It was clear when banned users came back having re-registered with another e-mail. Now there are scarcely any comments.

Yep R22 - all those years getting a PhD, all those years struggling to get a position, then he's an Associate Professor - almost in sight of a full professor position and - GONE.
And using 'hookers and beers' for supply and demand is not funny. Don't feel sorry for either of them.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 11, 2020 4:15 PM |
And I'm fairly certain he will be saying "I WAS a professor at Sac State."
You can't fire an associate professor for anything even close to this.
"Associate" means he's tenured. Tenure means he would have to show gross dereliction of duty while he is on campus on the job for him to be fired.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 11, 2020 4:19 PM |
R23, he got fired? Only heard that she went to “rehab”.
Was professor drinking too? I have a sweet cushy job that would fire me if I got involved in a public argument. Surprises me that that doesn’t go through his head when his wife is using the N word and he tells them where he works.

R1 and her ilk EXHAUST me.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 11, 2020 4:27 PM |
He should be dismissed from his position. For the school to retain him will associate them with his behavior. My professor used guns and butter - I think I would have fallen off my seat if he used prostitutes and beer.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 11, 2020 4:30 PM |
Of course he’s going to be fired. Calm down.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 11, 2020 4:39 PM |
Yet again:
You [bold]cannot be fired[/bold] for something you did off the job if you're tenured, and he is tenured. If his university tried to do that, he could sue the college for millions of dollars.
Academia is not like other jobs.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 11, 2020 4:44 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 11, 2020 4:47 PM |
Tenure is a category of academic appointment existing in some countries. A tenured post is an indefinite academic appointment that can be terminated only for cause or under extraordinary circumstances, such as financial exigency or program discontinuation. Tenure is a means of defending the principle of academic freedom, which holds that it is beneficial for society in the long run if scholars are free to hold and examine a variety of views.

Only in relationship to their academic work--either by cheating with their research or plagiarizing, or through gropss dereliction of duties (like regularly showing up to class drunk or high).
I am tenured myself, and I have sat on my college's committee of tenure and advancement before, and know the rules of tenure contracts very well. He cannot be fired for this.
Wishing that he be fired will not make it happen.

California may be called a blue state, but it has MASSIVE swaths of red. Even near Los Angeles. Most of the counties surrounding San Diego. Imperial Beach is a horrible place. Bikers and neoNazis selling meth. White nationalist groups abound. Retired military and a few military veterans discharged from the military for racism tend to nest in Imperial Beach. Chula Vista is not much better.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 11, 2020 7:47 PM |
Yeah, the "inclusive excellence" part cracked me up. I suspect it was chosen by a student committee. The school has a large minority enrollment.
The campus has had some incidents with white supremacist groups recently. The "American Identity Movement" put posters up in and around the campus. Some group used a drone to drop flyers. They also planned an on campus rally, but retreated when they found out that a larger group of counter protesters were there.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 11, 2020 7:56 PM |
Undoubtedly, he's one of the assholes who complains about university campuses becoming too "woke" and "PC" or whatever the alt-right "real problem" of the month is. Well, soon he won't need to bother coming to campus any longer. And, as someone who works in academia, there'll be more stories coming out from students and other faculty about his casual racism, homophobia, misogyny, unprofessional conduct in the classroom, maybe even some sexual harassment thrown into the mix. With assholes like that, it's never an isolated incident.

No, only most of them live in red states and you seem triggered by that fact. The GOP wouldn't be the actual party playing the "race card" if they didn't know it played best in red states.
And the fact that you think the Daily Mail is doing some kind of "God's work" when most of their shit is about demonizing non-whites and humanizing mass shooters only when they're white, is pretty pathetic on your part.

R56, I wasn't saying blue states don't have their share.. I live in Brooklyn and the area where I live coupled with Staten Island could give any KKK rally a run for its money, but for the poster to claim as though the Daily Mail -which peddles racism when they're not covering reality skanks- is doing some service by highlighting racism in a "liberal" state, is fucking ridiculous. Get back to me when the racism is so commonplace that it's ingrained to the point that a white supremacist easily wins the state.

I went to Sac State to get my degree after doing the first 2 years at community college. Sacramento was nice when I was there except for the summer heat and the disturbing crimes committed there. I agree with a previous poster about how conservative some areas of California are. While I was living there, pre-internet, an off-duty cop on his own motorcycle drove drunk and killed himself running into a bridge abutment. There were letters to the editor by people angry that the paper had reported on the incident because it showed disrespect to law enforcement in their opinion.
As for the weird crimes, the Golden State Killer was still active when I was there. They had a cannibal serial killer and another guy who was killing women on I-5, plus lots of gang activity and one robbery turned hostage drama while I was there. I imagine things have calmed down since then.
