Meltdown at the Olive Garden!

The fraus had to wait hours in the Olive Garden parking lot for takeout!:

I am about to witness a full on riot at the Cranberry, Pennsylvania Olive Garden. Suburban Karens with husbands who are the CFOs of mid-size floor tile companies vs the staff, which is 90-120 minutes behind order time. Will report back.

Jesus. All that for Olive Garden. Even if you LOVE Olive Garden it's not worth it. And if they allow you to pay when you pick up instead of in advance, do that - then you always have the option to bail.

by Anonymousreply 1May 11, 2020 4:41 AM

I was out today and saw a line ten cars deep for curbside pickup at Chili's. I can't understand it.

by Anonymousreply 2May 11, 2020 4:46 AM

I know that commercial strip in Cranberry. There's probably 100 other places to get food. Plus, there's always the grocery store. Again, ignoring the fact that it's Olive Garden - why would you wait anyplace for 1.5 to 2 hours?

by Anonymousreply 3May 11, 2020 4:51 AM

Well it's Mother's Day so I imagine that's why it was extra busy but I agree, r3.

by Anonymousreply 4May 11, 2020 5:03 AM

That's true, R4. I forgot about that. But still, 2 hours?

by Anonymousreply 5May 11, 2020 5:04 AM

Why would you order this shit on Mother's Day? Can't these guys fire up a grill and make some grilled chicken, steaks, or whatever?

This is insane.

by Anonymousreply 6May 11, 2020 5:09 AM

Mom asked for seven layer lasagna and bread sticks. I don't say no to Mom on Mother's Day.

by Anonymousreply 7May 11, 2020 5:14 AM
Does THIS look like a woman who’s used to being kept waiting for her Olive Garden breadsticks? In fact, does this look like a woman who’s used to being kept waiting for ANY bread product whatsoever?

Another meltdown, this time at Red Lobster:

^ I was just about to post that. These fraus are fucking insane. I did pickup for Mother's Day too, but from our local diner where there was no one else there but us, not a corporate chain with tons of customers outside like this. What idiot waits 2-4 hours for Olive Garden? Deplorables, clearly. Fuck them all. Hopefully, the workers go on strike now and unionize.

by Anonymousreply 12May 11, 2020 5:37 AM

If I was going to eat out, it would definitely be with a local place. I hate these over salted, microwaved, food chains. Gross. My extremely overweight sister in law always picks Chili’s, Red Lobster, Olive Garden type places when we visit. She’s already had gastric bypass surgery, and she has IBS, and she eats out every fucking meal. And they wonder where all their money went. Not to fine dining, that’s for sure.

by Anonymousreply 13May 11, 2020 6:26 AM

the customers paid on-line and showed up to pick it up. It was not ready. A whole bunch of restaurants are trying this now. It doesn't work. They are telling people to stay in their cars. The last thing I want is people touching my car. I have had my order screwed up.

by Anonymousreply 14May 11, 2020 7:51 AM

Olive Garden should have done an "order days ahead" deal with a cut off date a few days before Mothers Day. That way they know exactly how much food they will need.

by Anonymousreply 15May 11, 2020 7:52 AM

*America, America, God SHIT his Grace on thee...*

by Anonymousreply 16May 11, 2020 8:13 AM

I trust OP had a coupon?
the customers paid on-line and showed up to pick it up. It was not ready. A whole bunch of restaurants are trying this now. It doesn't work.

It works just fine as long as the restaurant is accurate about the pick-up time. Our Olive Garden pre-quarantine always said it would be 45-60 minutes until the food would be ready and it always took an extra half hour on top of that, which helped me get over my brief obsession with their soups this winter. Olive Garden already had an issue with foods taking a long time to prepare and their system not indicating that when you ordered.

Since the lockdown we've gotten carryout from local places and one chain (a place called Carlos O'Kelly's) and they've been just fine, no problems whatsoever.

Since the manager of the place in the Twitter thread was saying there would be a 30-minute wait when he knew it was more than an hour wait, I think management is a big part of the problem here.

by Anonymousreply 18May 11, 2020 9:49 AM

I can make my own lasagna in 2 hours. Including the pasta and the sauce. Better than that OG slop. Learn to cook, Karens.

by Anonymousreply 19May 11, 2020 10:11 AM

Even when it’s not a pandemic, don’t go out for a meal on Mother’s Day it’s ALWAYS a shit show.

by Anonymousreply 20May 11, 2020 10:41 AM

I ordered take out yesterday from a local Italian place (local, sadly, not as exquisite as Olive Garden). They were fine. They were very clear to say "Please do not show up until __ time" - which was about 40 or so minutes after I placed the order. I'm sure it's just hard for them to judge, plus they're probably getting staff who don't normally cook to help back in the kitchen, maybe?

by Anonymousreply 21May 11, 2020 10:54 AM

Is there anything easier to prepare than pasta? Assuming you aren't making it fresh, of course. I don't understand why do many people insist that eating restaurant food is so much easier and less time-consuming than simply learning to cook. If Todd and little Skyleigh and Cooper would have just fixed dinner for Mom themselves, all this could have been avoided.

by Anonymousreply 22May 11, 2020 11:16 AM

R20, same. Haven’t eaten out for Valentine’s Day in decades. “Why didn’t you guys go out for a nice romantic dinner?” “He didn’t take you OUT?”

by Anonymousreply 23May 11, 2020 11:56 AM

Obviously they didn't know they would be waiting two hours. The kitchen fell behind on curbside orders for Mother's Day, which were paid for in advance. Olive Garden is a pooular restaraunt with the vast majority in this country. Why is this hard to understand?

by Anonymousreply 24May 11, 2020 12:02 PM
Olive Garden is a pooular restaraunt

It is indeed poo-ular.

by Anonymousreply 25May 11, 2020 12:09 PM

The 2 busiest days in the restaurant biz are Valentines Day and Mothers Day avoid these days if you can. You are guaranteed to get bad service and poorly prepared food since the staff is overwhelmed with business on those days.

by Anonymousreply 26May 11, 2020 12:10 PM

Sorry, but I think humanity needs something a bit stronger than the Coronavirus to get read of the mouth breathing idiots who freak out about something so fucking stupid like their order at Olive Garden of all places.

The shutdown is lifted and the first thing you do is Olive Garden? Grease. Fire!

by Anonymousreply 27May 11, 2020 12:13 PM
Better than that OG slop. Learn to cook, Karens.

The whole point of going out on Mother's Day is so women don't have to cook. I think some of you were raised by animals and/or retarded.

YES! That's why they're all protesting, huh? Their stupid floor tile company owning husbands. The ones who managed to eek out a little something, and suddenly think they're Henry Ford.

by Anonymousreply 30May 11, 2020 12:19 PM

Apparently, most Olive Gardens have a way to space out and control the numbers of orders, and that went haywire at that location yesterday.

But yes, the entitlement and attitude is very, very Cranberry. It's one of the ugliest places on earth, filled with McMansions, hideous shopping plaza after hideous shopping plaza, and Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 31May 11, 2020 2:09 PM

And anyway, ORDER LOCAL.

Who would willingly ingest trash like Olive Garden???

by Anonymousreply 32May 11, 2020 2:14 PM

R32, no kidding. I’ve had my fill of institutional-grade, food-service food. Why not just go down to the local public middle school?

Gah.

Anybody who thinks that the way to honor mom is to feed her OG slop was either raised by animals or is retarded. Why do you hate your mother so much?

by Anonymousreply 38May 11, 2020 8:10 PM

You give your parents what they want to eat, not what some food snob thinks they should eat. That's why you go to the Olive Garden.

by Anonymousreply 39May 11, 2020 8:15 PM

r38, you realize a lot of people's mothers LIKE the Olive Garden, right?

by Anonymousreply 40May 11, 2020 8:16 PM

My mom loved Golden Corral. Mother's Day or not, I wouldn't wait two hours for their shitty buffet.

by Anonymousreply 41May 11, 2020 8:20 PM

Does anybody know what's been going on in front of Cheesecake Factory locations? I can only imagine the righteous rage of Karens being forced to stand in line for their daily 5,000 calorie fix.

by Anonymousreply 42May 11, 2020 8:29 PM

R24 and R25 it’s incredibly Poop-ular with my shitty sister-in-law. I’ve had to wait at the table for 20-30 minutes while she has an episode of IBS in the bathroom.

To be clear, I sympathize with those that have IBS. But she will not change her dietary habits because of it. She still orders platters of greasy, fried food with a Diet Coke. I tried to talk about portion control and I might as well have been speaking to her, and my brother, in a foreign language. Then she doesn’t understand why her medicine won’t work “right”.

by Anonymousreply 43May 11, 2020 9:40 PM

MY BREADSTICKS ARE NOT OPTIONAL!

MY BREADSTICKS ARE NOT UP FOR DEBATE!

by Anonymousreply 44May 11, 2020 11:41 PM
You realize a lot of people's mothers LIKE the Olive Garden

Yes, but no one should have to wait 2-4 hours, during a pandemic, in a crowded parking lot, with MAGA deplorables wearing no masks, for your mother to get Olive Garden either. My late grandmother [bold] loved [/bold] Olive Garden, but there's no way in hell that anyone would have gotten it for her during a time like this or if someone had to wait 2-4 hours to get it. No way, no how. The mother in law frau that the guy in OP's post said made him go pick it up should have been kindly told to go fuck herself.

the curbside thing is not working. Some restaurants are doing this in my area. I had some orders screwed up too, no way to fix the problem either. I will not go any where the uses this curbside thing.

R48 I was just coming to post the same.

Apparently, all the fat whores in PA were NOT having it this weekend.
