I've been coming to DL since 2012 (I don't know why I remember that but I do). Sometime about 5 years ago or more, Christie Brinkley had a major facelift and somebody posted photos of how tight and bizarre her face looked just after the surgery. So, she looks good but she has had major work done. I think she was about 60 when she had it--and I just checked, she's now 65, so it was 5 years ago. If I were Christie Brinkley and had my reputation to maintain, I'd have done it too (I'm sure she probably had work done before that). I'd liken it to the phenomenon that it's harder to distinguish people of different races from each other. The long and short is that when we "identify" people's faces, we don't actually look at everything in most cases. We look at and for a handful of key distinguishing features in order to different one person from another. The problem is that those queues often don't work for people of different races - or rather people whose features don't vary in a manner to which we are accustomed.

Back to the aging thing. I'd argue that it's not that black people "age slower," but that they age differently. The signs of age that one might see are different so most people are not accustomed to "seeing" them and identifying them as age-related markers. Same for asians. If you are used to seeing a lot of asians or black people at various ages, you're more likely to be able to discern the age markers unique to those races that are different from more general markers.
