I think Carnivale was one of the best dramas that tv ever produced. It was well cast and the look of the show was phenomenal. However, it only got two seasons. I think its first season moved so slowly that audience grew impatient and didn't return for the second season. Plus, it was probably an expensive show to produce. Did you watch?
Loved it! I wonder what would have happened in season 3.

Watched it religiously . Wasnt Nick Stahls addiction issues part of the problem ? I was so pissed when they canceled it,just like Rome !

I've just started watching it for the first time, so I'm late to the party! I'm only on episode 2 right now and I can't decide if I like it or not.

Loved the theme song by Pink Martini -- a kinky, edgy take on Doris Day's Que Sera Sera. Kind of a Peggy Lee vibe.

Yes I watched it and looked forward to each episode. It did move a tad slow but the carnival freakiness and evil vs good theme was engaging

I liked it but didn't think the look of the show was that original. Overuse of color tweaking for example.

Loved it as well. One of the best intros ever...

Season one was great, season two was meh. Making the daughter the opposite of the healing kid was stupid.

R4 Reporting back, I'm just finishing Episode 5 (Babylon). I like it (especially the atmosphere), but I constantly feel like I'm missing something with regards to the plot. I don't understand what's happening with the underlying themes. Is it worth continuing?

r10 Stick with it - it is slow and a tab bit convoluted but a good overall arch. At least it is an original and not a fucking reboot of something.

I liked the fat whore who dances the hoochie coochie.

I remember it fondly, it was a good (and sometimes surprisingly creepy) show. Had completely forgotten about it though, to be honest.

I really liked the show and wish they'd had a chance to finish the story.

Shows and movies about poor people set during the Depression are hard to watch.
The Depression was depressing.

Was it on HBO? I don't have HBO.

Agree with R9. The show had many of the same problems as the original TWIN PEAKS: atmospheric, engrossing first season followed by a second season that got sillier as it went along. The plot explanations didn't live up to the buildup.
