I saw the HBO version, as well, it was well-acted & more faithful to the book, but, somehow, it lacked something.

I am ashamed that, looking back, I had some Veda moments growing up. I have matured, I hope, but remember a time when I was not appreciative enough of my parents and that what we had seemed not good enough. I think I partially made up for it later, but still feel guilty now that both are gone. Veda was a s—t but there are many of her type in real life.
