Anyone who ever spent more than a night at Geffen's place. He is a very generous man.

by Anonymousreply 3May 10, 2020 2:02 AM

I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it.

Was Brad Pitt ever a kept man?

by Anonymousreply 5May 10, 2020 2:07 AM

Zac Efron, he's had "lots of older men" Not me though! I have seen Zac at the Chateau Marmont's bar more than a few times. When I have business or meet clients in LA, I stay at the Chateau.

Wasn't Ms. Seacrest rumored to have been the boytoy of Merv Griffin?

by Anonymousreply 7May 10, 2020 2:13 AM

I had forgotten about Seacrest. It is sad that I have heard about him again. I hope he is happy with that girl he french kissed in front of the press on some 'romantic' beach....

by Anonymousreply 8May 10, 2020 2:17 AM

Bradley Cooper -- allegedly kept by Victor Garber and his boyfriend

Lee Majors -- allegedly kept by Rock Hudson

Tony Danza -- also allegedly kept by Merv Griffin

Deny Terio (host of "Dance Fever" on TV) -- also allegedly kept by merv Griffin

Other celebrities who have been supposed to be kept by men (I forget by whom) Brad Pitt, Clint Eastwood

by Anonymousreply 9May 10, 2020 2:18 AM

R9 Clint Eastwood would dispute that.

by Anonymousreply 10May 10, 2020 2:19 AM

James van der Beek -- allegedly kept by Kevin Williamson (although this is highly disputed)

Clark Gable allegedly got George Cuckor fired from GWWT because he was Cuckor's kept boy.

Alex Pettyfer, when he was still a twink in England, was said to rely on the kindness of old gents.

Tom Ford and Richard Buckley.

Porn studio owner Michael Lucas and his rich sugar daddy who financed his porn studio for years.

by Anonymousreply 29May 10, 2020 6:22 AM

Weren't there rumours about Tom Cruise as well? I forgot who the alleged sugar daddy was though.

by Anonymousreply 30May 10, 2020 6:57 AM

I would think Marky Mark at some point was sucking cocks and had older gentlemen assisting him with his career -- it's not like his inexplicable rise to the top was due to innate talent.

by Anonymousreply 31May 10, 2020 7:27 AM

Calvin Klein fucked Marky Mark for sure.

by Anonymousreply 32May 10, 2020 8:19 AM

Tom Cruise was kept by Ralph Lauren R30.

by Anonymousreply 33May 10, 2020 4:47 PM

Prince Harry is being kept by Tyler Perry.

by Anonymousreply 34May 10, 2020 4:51 PM

r33, was that before or after David Geffen gave Tom a make-over (like, new teeth) and put him in movies?

by Anonymousreply 35May 10, 2020 5:04 PM

Edd Byrnes, who played Kookie on 77 SUNSET STRIP. At age 17, he began to work as a photographer’s model and was drawn into male hustling with wealthy older men that introduced him to a “strange world” of “art, wealth, sadism, limousines, sex for money, theater and fine restaurants,” Byrnes wrote in his 1996 autobiography, “ ’Kookie’ No More.”

by Anonymousreply 38May 10, 2020 5:37 PM

Tom Cruise wore Ralph Lauren's underwear.

Terrence McNally and Edward Albee

by Anonymousreply 41May 10, 2020 5:48 PM

Darren Criss

by Anonymousreply 42May 10, 2020 5:56 PM

R28, I've never heard that. I heard it was because Gable didn't want to be directed by a homosexual or by a "woman's director," which is what Cukor (not Cuckor) was known as. Cukor continued to coach the film's actresses--who didn't like manly-man Victor Fleming--at his home on the weekends.

by Anonymousreply 43May 10, 2020 6:03 PM

The Gable Cukor thing seems like a stretch. But maybe Clark was down for one of Cukor’s “clinical blowjobs.”

by Anonymousreply 44May 10, 2020 6:12 PM

R37 Fascinating, I’ve never heard of him before, but want to know more.

by Anonymousreply 45May 10, 2020 6:15 PM

As much as I support homosexuals and find homosexuality another beautiful form of love between two people, IF these younger men were not gay and doing it for $, then it's just as nasty as gold-diggers like Melania. The older men participating in such affairs with younger and poorer men/women are pathetic. Don't the realize nobody would want them without the dollars? Like Larry King and that Mormon woman...ewwww

by Anonymousreply 46May 10, 2020 6:18 PM

Someone just arrived here through a celebrity internet search.

by Anonymousreply 47May 10, 2020 6:20 PM

Go away R46. You are not welcome here.

by Anonymousreply 48May 10, 2020 6:27 PM

[quote] IF these younger men were not gay and doing it for $, then it's just as nasty as gold-diggers like Melania.

Insecure rich people (gay or straight) parade their trophy wives, mistresses, or boy toys around to impress their peers. There is an actual demand in so-called gold-diggers.

by Anonymousreply 49May 10, 2020 6:29 PM

R49 - but why would people like this need to validate their success with someone who EVERYONE knows would never be with them if they weren't paid? They must know deep inside that they are being used and that everyone else knows too and is snickering behind their backs.

by Anonymousreply 50May 10, 2020 6:35 PM

r46 has a great point. Just saying.

by Anonymousreply 51May 10, 2020 6:38 PM

R45, here’s a link to Edd Byrnes’ book on Amazon. Looks like it’s out of print and getting expensive.

I thought that the book was brave and incredibly honest. I can’t think of any other celebrity, of recent years, that admitted to anything similar in their past... although you know it happened a lot.

r50, you're kidding. Right?

by Anonymousreply 53May 10, 2020 6:40 PM

R53, if two people are getting something out a relationship, what difference does it make to anyone except them? It’s not about morals.

Please take your straight frau SJW comments someplace else. You are derailing this thread, or was that your intention?

by Anonymousreply 54May 10, 2020 6:49 PM

When my folks immigrated to the US in the early 80's, they worked as property managers in a luxury building in West Hollywood and almost all the residents were affluent gay men. I was 9 and lived there for 7 years. I vividly recall seeing a few men around the beautiful pool and gardens who looked very ill and my dad explaining that they had AIDS. One particular fellow was older and he lived in the penthouse and he was always at the pool, always with a different handsome young guy who would stay at his place a few months to a year. When he got sick and then died, not one of those guys materialized to see him or was there except his sister who took care of EVERYTHING. In the last days he had a nurse and my dad and mom would sometimes go to see how he was and all (he was a cool guy, loved my dad's paintings). This is the reason I personally do not think there is any true love in these relationships.

by Anonymousreply 55May 10, 2020 6:57 PM

r54, Fuck off yourself if you can't follow a discussion and which comment I replied to.

[quote] This is the reason I personally do not think there is any true love in these relationships.

True love is rare and some never experience it, because they believe they don't deserve true love. And just to be clear: Obsessing about other people's failure in love only creates a self-fulfilling prophecy for yourself where you observe conditions and think they must be true for you, too.

by Anonymousreply 59May 10, 2020 7:04 PM

Clark Gable was afflicted with Phimosis, a tight foreskin that does not retract. This caused him problems with, ahem, personal hygiene. My dear friend, George Cukor, discovered this first hand when Clark was young and available for rent. George let this be known to other single gentlemen within his Hollywood circle. Clark was not amused. And that, Datalounge lads, is why Victor Fleming directed Gone With The Wind. George never kept Clark. He preferred to buy his cheese at the Hollywood Market. -Livie DeH

by Anonymousreply 60May 10, 2020 7:07 PM

R55, there is a difference between love and sex. Love can be free, and sex can cost money.

by Anonymousreply 61May 10, 2020 7:08 PM

R19, Have you heard of "Jeopardy!"? How about "Wheel of Fortune"? Maybe "Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips"?

Don't advertise your ignorance.

by Anonymousreply 62May 10, 2020 7:09 PM

R59 - agree on the self-fulfilling prophecy but it was a pretty impressionable thing to see at 11 years old and it's pretty hard to forget those times even if you were the kid of immigrants because you were kind of in the eye of the storm. Seeing apartments become vacant, my dad coming from a tenant's apartment looking forlorn and calling the owner to say so and so had died of AIDS. Just a real prep for this hell of a crisis we are in now. I really think that this time, the whole sugar daddy thing will die off and everything will change.

R69 - it is pretty obvious what the story is. She was a low grade "actress" and, as a drifter with zero intellect or taster standards, found someone who would let her crash at their pad.

Tbh I don't know that Harry is smart enough to be mortified. He clearly has the same low standards as her if he even accepted her and puts up with the situation. Water settles at it's own level.

I had no idea about Brad Pitt and a lot of the men stated here, tbh. It's an education! I googled Thom Racina and a few threads on other sites came up, along with some photos of him and Brad Pitt.

Thom Racina: But Brad did something for me. People say, “Oh you gave him his start, he doesn’t talk to you anymore.” I say that people come into our each other’s lives for a certain time. Sometimes it’s a lifetime, other times it’s for certain times and you do not mourn that. You take that and say, “This was a wonderful thing.” He kept telling me, “You’ve got to write a movie, you’ve got to write another book.” He wanted to play a psychopath. So I wrote my book, “Snow Angel.” which got me out of daytime, because of Brad. He pushed me to do that book. Every time I talked it out with him I got a new idea. He was eager to play it, now he’s too big a star to do it. But he gave me that renewed interest in going back to writing novels.

by Anonymousreply 76May 10, 2020 7:38 PM

R67 - thank you, did got to therapy and ended up becoming an NP. Some experiences lead some of us in a good place. On the topic of this thread, we had a VERY sexy trainer at my gym near Calabasas. African-American, married to a churchy African-American lady, very active in the church, etc. Well, one day, he vanished and the other trainers and teachers said KEVIN HART had laid eyes on this fellow and he immediately took him home, bought him a house next to his house, a Rover, and hired him as his "trainer, and personal assistant" and the rumor was that they were lovers but because of the way the African-American community is and Kevin's image and audience...he was still with his "wife" who stayed behind in their condo.

by Anonymousreply 77May 10, 2020 7:43 PM

by Anonymousreply 80May 10, 2020 7:49 PM

When he first broke into show business, Clark Gable allowed William "Billy" Haines to orally service him. Haines was a major star, Gable was nothing. Haines and Cukor were good friends and Gable could not stand to be directed every day by Cukor on "GWTW", aware that Cukor knew of his past wirh Haines. Gable lobbied to have Cukor replaced by Victor Fleming.

R96: Bieber was a popular singer on youtube, Usher realized he could cash on that and he produced his album or something like that, they even made a duet.

And that's all, Bieber was like 14 and Usher was very well known back then. I think it was probably more an estrategy from to make look legit someone who was a social media star. People forgot it, but back then radio was very reluctant to play people who were internet famous. Bieber spent years without having a pop radio top ten hit (i think Boyfriend was his first top 10 hit on radio). Even Shawmn Mendes who came a good bunch of years after had a lot of trouble to get airplay at the beginning of his career (in Mendes case without the success of Stitches he would be over before the start)

Male model/“singer” Baptiste Giabiconi was allegedly kept by Karl Lagerfeld.Rumours have abound for years that Christopher Atkins has had “help” from various older men over the decades. There was the whole Nick Gruber/Calvin Klein debacle of a few years past.Andy Warhol went on record as saying that Joe Dallesandro had a succession of sugar daddies. Most of the biographies of James Dean mention a TV producer that kept him for awhile. And the Brad Pitt/Racina talk has been persistent. These things are almost impossible to completely verify because of course the keepee isn’t ever going to go on record to admit being kept.Too much stigma attached.Edd Byrnes is the exception to the rule. It’s way more common in the gay world than you’d expect I think. And show biz as everyone knows by now is rife with transactional relationships.
