Is this the music video for it? What's happening in the background?

She didn't have an official video for Holiday, did she?
There is a surreal video I saw once of her singing Holiday in a field with her two dancers.

There’s no info on it because it’s a shitty video. Both this and Everybody were low-budget videos because the label wasn’t going to spend big bucks on videos for a new artist until she was able to prove she could sell.

It looks like they're practicing their routine. She looks amazing, so does her brother Chris. This was just the beginning. I love her showing her belly, it was risqué at that time.

R3 This was almost 40 years ago hun. Move on.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 9, 2020 10:15 PM |
R4 What the fuck does that even mean? I think you need to move on from this thread, bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 9, 2020 10:16 PM |
[quote]I love her showing her belly, it was risqué at that time.
Cher was showing her belly years before. Stop thinking Madonna was the first at everything.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 9, 2020 10:17 PM |
Thank You R5. It looks like R4 is hitting the bottle early today.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 9, 2020 10:18 PM |
R6 Nowhere did he say she was the first you ignorant whore.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 9, 2020 10:19 PM |
R4 Must be real fun at family gatherings. "Remember that time we all went to Hawaii and...." "That was 5 years ago. Move on, gramps.. Grandma's dead now for fucks sake."
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 9, 2020 10:22 PM |
Back to the video. Obviously it was planned as a music video. It has some sort of tableaux vivant on the background.
Odd that there isn't any info on the web.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 9, 2020 10:25 PM |
I grew up in the 80's. Unless you were Amish or Mormon, there was nothing risqué about showing your belly.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 9, 2020 10:25 PM |
Some of you are just nasty miserable cunts. Some of us like to celebrate Madonna's long career. Then there's those who are just bitter dried up cunts.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 9, 2020 10:27 PM |
R12 Except it was or else why was it noted all the time when Cher or Madonna did it?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 9, 2020 10:27 PM |
Yeah, there was no real proper video for "Holiday," at least not one that was shown on MTV, etc. I remember seeing her perform it on Solid Gold.
The first Madonna video I remember seeing was "Burning Up," then "Lucky Star" and "Borderline."
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 9, 2020 10:38 PM |
R12, go to the "Black Cat" thread and shove your head Janet's cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 9, 2020 10:39 PM |
R16 That wouldn't be hard to do. You could easily go spelunking in it.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 9, 2020 10:42 PM |
R11 Honey, Vanity was doing WAY more risqué stuff the year before. Madonna is no trailblazer, just a copycat.
White people like to think they did everything first.🤦🏻♂️
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 9, 2020 10:48 PM |
Oh God. It took 18 comments to bring up race. The reverse racist has arrived!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 9, 2020 10:52 PM |
R18 Honey Child, no one knew who Vanity was then. And you'd have done yourself MORE favors by striking Vanity and replacing that name with Grace Jones. But we're talking MAINSTREAM and Madonna was everywhere not in back street clubs in Atlanta like Vanity. But you tried (and failed).
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 9, 2020 10:52 PM |
It's an aerobics video.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 9, 2020 11:01 PM |
Madonna's early days at Sire are really interesting. No official video for Holiday which has become a signature song for her (it's been the closing song for Who's That Girl, Reinvention and Rebel Heart, not to mention the encore for Blond Ambition and Drowned World) and the single cover didn't have her face on it, just like Everybody.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 9, 2020 11:03 PM |
And Holiday was her first hit. Surprising they didn't rush out a video.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 9, 2020 11:05 PM |
Who the fuck is Vanity??
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 9, 2020 11:09 PM |
In a way, Holiday kind of got an official video when Truth or Dare came out. I remember video channels would run the clip from the movie.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 9, 2020 11:12 PM |
Oh, you told me, R16! Tell me, we're you a teen in the 80's??Because, if you were, I doubt you recall anyone saying how daring she was, showing that midriff. If it was written about, which I don't recall, perhaps because the writers would have been in their thirties or forties or older and were still clutching pearls? But no one I knee--and we all liked Madonna--thought, "OH! How risqué! A bare belly!" If anyone had that reaction, they were already ancient.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 9, 2020 11:16 PM |
She bared her ankles which was ABSOLUTELY SCANDALOUS in the 80s!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 9, 2020 11:17 PM |
Janet bared her deformed titty on the SuperBowl!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 9, 2020 11:19 PM |
R26 No one said kids were thinking that. Inferences are not a strong suit for many here.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 9, 2020 11:19 PM |
The person in the background is writing the early editions of corona diaries.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 9, 2020 11:20 PM |
Her son Rocco is the spitting image of her brother .
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 12, 2020 10:08 PM |
I think it's a pretty difficult argument to make that Madonna was not considered as risque or pushing boundaries back in the 80s.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 12, 2020 10:14 PM |
Holiday is such a simple song, yet so happy and so lovely. So much pop today is aggressive and depressing and angry, it's so fucking boring. Even the production today is angry and aggressive, with the vocals so loud and jangling. And no, this is not an elder gay thing, it's an observation on the content and the style.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 12, 2020 10:18 PM |
I guess she learned to add a white seamless backdrop for Lucky Star
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 12, 2020 10:29 PM |
That tableau vivant in the background, I wonder. A man wearing an 18th century nightcap, writing in bed about his dreamed-of vacation. Clearly a commentary on the emerging industrial revolution and the coming tension between proletariat and bourgeoisie.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 12, 2020 10:54 PM |
This video has always been like, "...huh?" As a fan going back to the 80's, I didn't even know it existed until some time in the 00's. It doesn't match the energy of the song at all.
Classic uplifting song. Lame, confusing video. No wonder it's always been so hidden.
I always thought it seemed like some attempt to recreate those arty model spreads from The Face magazine, which would have made sense at that time.

Stevie Nicks was "showing belly" in 1976 (and before).
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 12, 2020 11:01 PM |
Love Stevie R37, but Madonna captivated the world. (Except for the fat black one, Janbot)
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 12, 2020 11:43 PM |
Butch, hairy-pitted bi-sexual Madonna was trying to be a punk rock singer. Then she started dating the lead singer of The Breakfast Club. Her whole style changed and the rest is history.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 13, 2020 12:14 AM |
Madonna was never “bisexual.”
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 13, 2020 12:18 AM |
Sad she turned out to be such a cunt! 😰
