Paul Newman - The Outrage. Love him, but "Mexican Bandito" was a little outside his wheelhouse
Marlon Brando - The Island of Dr. Moreau. At that point, he had stopped giving a shit.

Sharon Stone - Basic Instinct 2.
Its one of the films so bad, it makes you wonder was the entire crew on shrooms during production. How can they produce such a bomb.

Blythe Danner in "Brighton Beach Memoirs."

Another vote for "Lucy/Mame."

Diana Ross in The Wiz. Her hair and costume made her look frumpy and aged her a lot. Too old and whiny. Such a dour performance for what should have been a fun film.

He always seemed like a kid playing dress up.
But he was much better in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. Maybe all the age and booze have made him more realistic.

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in Batman Rises. The first time I found Catwoman totally unsexy. Totally miscast.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | May 10, 2020 11:54 PM |
R66, it’s a shame they didn’t make that movie ten years earlier. Angelina Jolie would’ve been terrific as that incarnation of Catwoman.

Yeah, AnnE seems more like Batgirl.

by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 11, 2020 12:45 AM |
R66, Hathaway, surprisingly, was credible in the scenes that required her to be a tough, scrappy street criminal going face to face with other criminals, but you're right about her lack of sexiness. Every time she lowered her head, looked up coquettishly and tried to talk in a seductive, sexy voice, a violent shudder went through me. It was AWFUL, just the cringiest thing I've ever seen. She is NOT sexy. It reminds me of that movie THIS IS WAR where we're expected to believe that Chris Pine and Tom Hardy would "go to war" over who gets [italic]Reese Witherspoon(!?!)[/italic] of all people. For the entire movie they have Reese wearing the sluttiest clothes the costume designer could find to convince us she desirable -- mini-skirts all the way up to her crotch. IT DOESN'T WORK. Reese is not sexy and neither is Hathaway.

I've once posted this before, but years ago I saw Mickey Rooney in The Wizard of Oz at the theater at Madison Square Garden - he played the wizard - and he was so awful, I felt embarrassed for him.
It looked like he was suffering from a hangover (not an impossibility since it was an early performance).
In movies - Laurence Olivier in The Betsy and Richard Burton in Exorcist II

Reese didn't stand a chance. The problem with that movie is that Chris and Tom always seem liked they'd much rather fuck each other.

Cate Blanchett in The Aviator. Beyond awful.

I kept waiting for her to tell Ripley about the time she squashed a ping pong ball and it was just ghastly.

R66 and R69 Ew. I'm so glad I didn't see it. It does seem painful to watch AnnE trying to be sexy. She is as sexless and thirsty as Jennifer Garner.

Whitney Houston’s film debut. I love her and always will, but she was so wildly uneven in that movie. Still love to watch it because she’s so beautiful in it.

Natalie Portman has done some garbage. But this last year. Lucy in the sky. The horrible wig and accent. The movie was just terrible. What was so funny about it was they were saying she would probably get an Oscar nom for it. Until they actually saw it at the Toronto film festival. It wasn't brought up again.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 11, 2020 8:04 PM |
R77 Cate Blanchett was pretty awful in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Although to her credit, that whole thing was a train wreck.

Cate Blanchett is one of our most overrated actresses. She lacks a great deal of likability.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 11, 2020 8:28 PM |

No one shits on Olivier or De Niro for not being likable......why do only females have to be likable?
by Anonymous | reply 86 | May 12, 2020 4:39 PM |
I shit on Olivier's hammy bisexual ass all the time. And I am so disappointed in DeNiro's awful string of films over the past two decades. Now he's made YET ANOTHER mobster movie with Scorsese. How original - NOT.
I did enjoy Blanchett in BLUE JASMINE very much. But it was the story that was stronger than anything. I just liked seeing her character get her comeuppance.
