Was Lucy murdered?

I always found it suspicious that she suddenly "dropped dead" at age 77.

From wiki:

[quote] On April 18, 1989, Ball complained of chest pains at her home in Beverly Hills and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was diagnosed with dissecting aortic aneurysm and underwent an eight-hour aortic transplant. The surgery was SUCCESSFUL, and Ball was soon able to walk around her room with little assistance. She received a flurry of get-well wishes. Shortly after dawn on April 26, Ball awoke with severe back pains then lost consciousness; she died at 5:47 a.m. PDT at the age of 77.

Can a heart attack cause back pains?

by Anonymousreply 1May 7, 2020 11:56 PM

That's a lovely picture of her. Gorgeous blue eyes.

by Anonymousreply 2May 7, 2020 11:57 PM

She was a 77-year-old alcoholic who smoked like a chimney.

by Anonymousreply 3May 7, 2020 11:58 PM

Well, don’t look at me!

by Anonymousreply 4May 8, 2020 12:00 AM

She was planning to be murdered, but Gary talked her out of it.

by Anonymousreply 5May 8, 2020 12:02 AM

R2 Her overdrawn lipstick looked fucking ridiculous though.

by Anonymousreply 6May 8, 2020 12:03 AM

[quote] Was Lucy murdered?

Possibly. The other australopithecines were annoyed that she was always asking to speak to their managers.

She died on Carol Burnett's birthday.

by Anonymousreply 8May 8, 2020 12:06 AM

No one gets away with throwing coffee at me.

by Anonymousreply 9May 8, 2020 12:12 AM

Carol did it.

by Anonymousreply 10May 8, 2020 12:13 AM

The cigarettes murdered her. They thought they were in her will.

by Anonymousreply 11May 8, 2020 12:15 AM

She was a very, very unhappy and unpleasant woman.

Her daughter is a gem though.

by Anonymousreply 12May 8, 2020 12:17 AM

I know that Lucy Beale was murdered, but I hadn't heard anything about Lucy Ricardo, Lucy Carmichael, or Lucy Carter.

But I do know that Lucy Barker killed Lucille Ball's career.

by Anonymousreply 13May 8, 2020 12:18 AM

Her voice was coarse and gravelly. Her lungs were black husks from a lifetime of heavy smoking. She was lucky to make it to 77.

by Anonymousreply 14May 8, 2020 12:19 AM

I don't smoke.

by Anonymousreply 15May 8, 2020 12:25 AM

Henna is known to turn arteries into strips of hard licorice.

Those four packs of Phillip Morris per day were ancillary.

by Anonymousreply 16May 8, 2020 12:25 AM

[quote] Her lungs were black husks from a lifetime of heavy smoking.

But that's not what she died of.

by Anonymousreply 17May 8, 2020 12:26 AM

She died of an overdrawn lip line.

by Anonymousreply 18May 8, 2020 12:28 AM

I'd had enough of that bitch!

by Anonymousreply 19May 8, 2020 12:29 AM

77 was a ripe old age 30 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 20May 8, 2020 12:32 AM

She killed herself, just couldn't stand to listen to BABALU one more goddamn time!

by Anonymousreply 21May 8, 2020 12:33 AM

R6 That was very fashionable, at the time. Many pictures of movie-stars at the time, have a similar look.

by Anonymousreply 22May 8, 2020 12:33 AM

It was a young Debra Messing!

by Anonymousreply 23May 8, 2020 12:34 AM

She certainly was! By the critics, in 1986 when Life With Lucy was inflicted on the public.

by Anonymousreply 24May 8, 2020 12:36 AM

R23 Actually, the tv sitcom star that looked the most like Lucy, is Reba.

Her kids did put her in a $250 crypt in LA. Just sayin'.

Not many people know this=I just learned this, earlier today.

R26 I doubt it was only $250 in Forest Lawn. Also, Gary would have been in charge, so the blame falls on him. She is now back home in New York, in a family plot.

I knew her. She was gruff, but had a wonderful, kind heart beneath the exterior.

The media was terrible to her as she got older. The shit she got from the press would never fly in today's society.

by Anonymousreply 28May 8, 2020 12:54 AM

She was murdered by Ricky after he found out she got him fired from MGM.

by Anonymousreply 29May 8, 2020 12:55 AM

R28 People, including the press, just could not accept that she got old. She was really the first celebrity to be faced with having to compete with basically three younger versions of herself playing constantly. The older movie-stars had it easier, because their movies weren't on constantly.

by Anonymousreply 30May 8, 2020 1:05 AM

Yes, op, she was murdered. The four packs of cigarettes over 30 years had nothing at all to do with it.

by Anonymousreply 31May 8, 2020 1:12 AM

From [R26]'s video: "Here is Forrest Tucker. Most of him, anyway." Anybody know the story on this? He had a legendary penis. Did someone "rescue" it and keep it as a souvenir?

by Anonymousreply 32May 8, 2020 1:13 AM

R1 yes, in women heart attacks can present that way. It has been described as feeling like a painful bra, a tightness around the upper body -- front and back.

by Anonymousreply 33May 8, 2020 1:35 AM

Did anyone check on Carolyn Appleby's whereabouts that day?

by Anonymousreply 34May 8, 2020 1:45 AM

Stone pillow my ass.

Booze and dope.

by Anonymousreply 36May 8, 2020 2:17 AM

Why do people think she was unhappy?

by Anonymousreply 37May 8, 2020 2:21 AM

If you ever saw her on a talk show or a game show during the last 10 years of her life, she usually seemed stiff and belligerent and ill-tempered and all around unpleasant.

by Anonymousreply 38May 8, 2020 2:23 AM

I think I remember reading that Liz Smith, lover of all stars in any shape or form, found Lucy to be the most unpleasant and worst interview of her life.

by Anonymousreply 39May 8, 2020 2:24 AM

That overdrawn lip line was called "The Joan Crawford".

by Anonymousreply 40May 8, 2020 2:24 AM

And that she wished she had never met her in person.

by Anonymousreply 41May 8, 2020 2:24 AM

The charge nurse killed her after Lucy kept demanding she play backgammon with her.

by Anonymousreply 42May 8, 2020 2:25 AM

Surprisingly this never comes up around here, but I remember watching a documentary made by a gay guy who in his early 20s formed an intimate friendship with Lucille Ball in her final years. He would of course play backgammon with her and I think she may have left him her Chrysler LeBaron convertible when she died...

by Anonymousreply 43May 8, 2020 2:28 AM

That guy, the author of I Loved Lucy, or something like that, does pop up here from time to time

by Anonymousreply 44May 8, 2020 2:30 AM

Yes, she was; bitch pulled that football prank one time too many.

by Anonymousreply 45May 8, 2020 2:30 AM

The candy striper killed her after Lucy threw her bedpan at her and screamed, "You call this clean?"

by Anonymousreply 46May 8, 2020 2:37 AM

R32 My interpretation is that it is a penis joke, but the joke is that they couldn't fit all of him into the crypt.

by Anonymousreply 47May 8, 2020 5:57 AM

Did Lucy suffer brain damage the last ten years of her life because of the drinking and the heart cutting off oxygen to her brain due to smoking is a better question. She seems like an advanced alcoholic in her later tv interviews

by Anonymousreply 48May 8, 2020 8:25 AM

Could it have been the first death from Covid-19?

by Anonymousreply 49May 8, 2020 8:36 AM

I can't recall ever hearing about Lucy drinking, let alone being a drunk.
