This is how a restaurant in Bangkok adapted to the current pandemic.
Would you bother going out to eat if you had to do so under these conditions?

Had to laugh since the majority of them still have their faces stuck in their phones.
However, an exception would be you apparently have to text your dining partner, since you most likely can't hear through those partitions and the masks.

Nuh-uh

I like it, only improvement would be pull down fabric screens so I could eat in privacy.

Wouldnt mind eating alone there, but would not pay money for this with a friend or family.

It's ingenious, and I like it.
I don't know how effective it would be, but it's got to be better than nothing.

Needs glory holes
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 7, 2020 2:40 PM |
what's in those little green pots?!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 7, 2020 2:40 PM |
Probably not much - it just doesn't seem worth it. But, after being cooped up for so long, if a friend wanted to get a drink under those conditions, I might do it.

I wouldn't have a problem with this if it was just me. Don't see the point in going with someone else though.

Bump

If that's our new way of life, then yes, I could deal with it.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 7, 2020 8:27 PM |
I cant believe this could become the new reality. I guess we didn t know how good we had it.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 7, 2020 8:56 PM |
Fuck that...if I am going to a restaurant I am going for social engagement too.

OP: Now that looks as much fun as going the theatre or a baseball game with a quarter of the seats filled. The only thing I miss is going to the theatre. Having worked in the arts for many years, I feel so bad for actors, directors, writers, the stage crew. They have no venue and no date of return yet. As much as I like the theatre, I would not feel comfortable sitting in a big room breathing the same air with a bunch of other people. This is a friggin disaster.

That looks like the food better be superlative.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 7, 2020 9:45 PM |
I would suppose that an epidemiologist would find those cubicles to be ineffective.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 7, 2020 9:52 PM |
You can't even sample your companion 's food.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 7, 2020 9:52 PM |
what's the point, if someone stands up and cough...you will get it. the plastic has to be from the ceiling!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 8, 2020 2:16 AM |
No. And no one else in America will either.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 8, 2020 5:22 PM |
What's the point of eating basically alone in a restaurant when you can have the same experience much cheaper at home? That way you even have more control over the food preparation and making sure nobody with Covid-19 handled your food.

A different solution at Mediamatic ETEN in Amsterdam.

I wouldn’t especially enjoy it, but I would eat under those conditions to support a restaurant I like. Different countries and communities will have different safety guidelines, most of which will drive operating expenses through the roof. We need to be ready to spend our money at local small businesses that need our patronage.

Similar to others. Alone I wouldn't mind but not with people.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 8, 2020 5:35 PM |
Ahh, the ambience!
