She was spectacular. Patti was great and I expected her to be. Bernadette defied expectations.
I'll never understand all the hate Bernadette got

Closing performance sounded amazing. LISTEN to the power at 2:30.

She sure stunk up Annie Get Your Gun and it would have closed if Reba hadn’t saved it.

She won a Tony for this embarrassment...and for AGYG...R2 is correct, Reba made BP look like a high school amateur.

I don't get why Patti dislikes her so much.

R3, I agree that while she sang much of the score BEAUTIFULLY (especially Lost In His Arms and Moonshine Lullaby), she wasn't quite right for Annie. But, damn, her voice just hit you like a moonbeam...

R4 - Patti is one of the most talented and successful leading ladies in Broadway history, but she's also quite insecure and seems to have projected her insecurities onto Bernadette over the years. She also claims that Bernadette has taken many roles that were "supposed" to be hers including The Witch in Into The Woods (after she said she originally wanted to play Cinderella), Dot in Sunday, and Rose in the 2003 Gypsy and this Annie Get Your Gun. While I don't think she's ever publicly said anything pointedly negative about Bernadette, she's obviously very cool to her and certainly takes pains never to say anything remotely positive about her, either. Meanwhile, as I recall, last time Bernie was on Watch What Happens Live, she was asked about Patti's performance on the Grammys that year (when she performed Don't Cry For Me Argentina) and Bernadette said she was "amazing." I get the impression Bernadette is the more secure of the two of them.
(But, if you'd ask me which of them I'd rather get a drink with... it's Patti, of course)
