Watching this I still have no idea why Brick had not interest in Maggie
Did his injury affect his libido? They never explained it in the movie why Brick was so distant. Maybe he found out Maggie had an affair behind his back?

R1 that is nowhere mentioned in the movie

R2, are you really that dumb? Watch it again and learn to read between the lines, especially with the scenes with Big Daddy talking about Scooter or whatever his name was. And by the way, Brick's being gay is very clear in the play, which you clearly have not read nor seen.

Right now Maggie is eating fried chicken at Big Daddy's party - seems so unladylike for a class dame like Maggie to be eating Fried Chicken

Skipper is dead and Maggie the Cat is ALIVE
I know that Brick friend is dead, but that is no reason to blame that on Maggie.

r2 doesn't understand how 1950's Hollywood Tennessee Williams adaptations worked. Blanche duBoise's ("Streetcar Named Desire") gay husband and Sebastian's ("Suddenly Last Summer") homosexuality weren't mentioned in their film versions, either.

Oh I see - Maggie is barren and Brick is taking that out on her by denying her sex.
I get it now.
As Brick just said, how can you have a child with a man who can't stand you (as he is upset that Maggie Barren)

Burl Ives' Big Daddy is what makes this movie work.

Brick wiped away Maggie kiss because he is disgusted that she can't bear children. That is why he is so disgusted with Maggie, he wants fertile woman.

He wants a big cock up his arse

Maggie slept with Brick best friend Skipper behind his back!!!!

No wonder why Brick is so distant from his wife Maggie - how you would feel if your spouse slept with your best friend ?

Skippy couldn't get it up for Kitty Cat and this made him confess his true feelings to Brick, who rejected him.

R13 that is not what Brick just said - he is telling Big Daddy that Maggie and his best friend were having an affair!

Maggie had an affair with Skip because she was jealous that Brick and Skip were in love. Brick blames Maggie for Skippers death, that is why he hates her. She’s not barren. Brick won’t touch her. He may also have some problems with his libido due to drinking whiskey all day and night, though that’s Maggie’s fault also.

Because she slept with his best friend - that makes her "damaged goods" in his eyes.

Brick and Skipper were best friends and teammates. In the play there is always the open question as to whom Brick was really in love with, and it is clear that Skipper has had intimate contact with both Brick and Maggie. Skipper therefore is the ghost of Brick's true feelings. Maggie doesn't really as much in the play about Brick being gay as she does about being poor. But in the film all that " adult" stuff has been removed. There is a great short story in The New Yorker that T. Williams wrote about Brick and Maggie when he was drawing out the play. They are very different in that story.

I am not exaggerating in the least but I have a cousin, whom I am very fond of, who is exactly like Big Mama, including her size. Tennessee knew how to draw them.

The original manuscript was much more complex. In it Brick finds out that Maggie was a male to female trans and therein lies the origin of the conflict.

Tennessee was truly a man before his time, R19.
