Good topic OP! I have a couple:
Kissing You by Des'ree - Romeo and Juliet
Gloria by Laura Branigan - Flash Dance

I am kicking myself for not specifying it shouldn't be the movie's theme song like, Footloose and well, Footloose :) or the Bond songs specifically written for the movie

O-o-h Child (Crooklyn)
Sabotage (Star Trek Beyond)
Space Age Love Song (the fabulously underrated Spanish-language gay film End of the Century)
and most especially Love for Life (Trainspotting)
And BTW, I specifically picked songs that weren't written for any of those films, but I now can't separate those songs from the movies because they were so effectively used in them.

The song Wild Horses in Camp, sung by Daniel Latterle at the height of his twinkness. I like how much the room comes alive and his earnestness and pride in performing it grows. I really had not known the song prior to seeing it here, unlike the show tunes, and at first though it might be his own like Paul McCrane’s song in Fame.

Kokomo makes me think of Cocktail and this scene from the show Scrubs when Turk says that he wants to go to Kokomo for his honeymoon and his fiancé, Carla, tells him, again, that it’s not a real place.
Doesn’t sound funny here, but it was funny on the show.

No matter how often it has been featured in various productions and how famous it is, I'll always associate Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again" with Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove":

Yes, R50! Also from Muriel’s Wedding: Waterloo, which Muriel and Rhonda lip sync to in the talent contest.
Another one (a little obscure?): One Way Or Another, heard during the bus joyriding scene in Little Darlings.

Raspberry Beret and the .Purple Rain Soundtrack don't remind me of a movie ( besides Purple Rain)but take me back to my final years in college. I was a cheerleader at my university, had moved out of the Fraternity house to my own efficiency piece of shit apt and worked at a liquor store in our downtown area. I was the happiest I'd ever been in my entire life or have been since.

The interesting posts are the ones that have famous songs that just happen to play on the soundtrack. The boring posts are the ones that have themes from the movie that everyone automatically associates with the film like “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic and “What A Feeling” from Flashdance.
