The hats that don't have the hole on the backside are so ugly. When person wear them flipped backwards, they look like a thumb.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 30, 2020 2:26 PM |
Written by Rich Juzwiak, an exhausting navel gazing queen.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 30, 2020 2:29 PM |
Juzwiak? Oh no honey, we don’t do her here.

"Look at me! I'm very close to being straight" -- the language of baseball caps
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 30, 2020 2:40 PM |
Men, gay or straight, wear ball caps for one of two reasons: Their hair looks like shit, or they are going bald.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 30, 2020 2:51 PM |
2017 study on recognition of sexuality by facial structure: "Additionally, consistent with the association between baseball caps and masculinity in American culture, heterosexual men and lesbians tended to wear baseball caps."
According to the researchers, the study has exposed a potential threat to the privacy and safety of gay men and women around the world, as governments and corporations are already developing and deploying facial recognition technologies designed to predict things like the likelihood of committing a crime or being a paedophile.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 30, 2020 2:52 PM |
So, yes, gay men are statistically less likely to wear baseball caps than nongay dudes. Facts
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 30, 2020 2:53 PM |
[quote] corporations are already developing and deploying facial recognition technologies designed to predict things like the likelihood of committing a crime or being a paedophile.
How can facial recognition predict the likelihood or a crime or being a pedo? It can see if there are known criminals or pedos in the crowd, but there's nothing about general facial structure that points to being either.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 30, 2020 2:55 PM |
Facial structure is correlated with propensity to commit violent crime. As is neck thickness, whether one wears glasses. Testosterone has consequences
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 30, 2020 2:58 PM |
It connotes all American masculinity and bro-ness.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 30, 2020 2:58 PM |
I cannot wear a baseball cap. It makes me feel as if I'm Donald Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 30, 2020 2:59 PM |
What R5 said.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 30, 2020 3:00 PM |
This queen - and too many gay men - loves to overanalyze every last thing. Sometimes a cap is just a cap. Some of us have ugly heads, or fiveheads, or are denying the reality of their hair loss, or have a bad day, or want to shield their eyes from the sun, or....
Not everything is about your (in)ability to get dick.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 30, 2020 3:02 PM |
Red caps might trigger the pedo-alert system described earlier.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 30, 2020 3:04 PM |
my head structure does not allow me to wear any type of hat without looking ridiculous
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 30, 2020 3:08 PM |
You may think so, r17, we don’t.
You look hot in a fedora.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 30, 2020 3:12 PM |
Sometime it's just to keep the sun out of your eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 30, 2020 3:13 PM |
This seems massively overthought.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 30, 2020 3:15 PM |
Straight men also wear them in the belief that it makes them appear more masculine.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 30, 2020 3:16 PM |
I just want one so that I don't have to tame my Covid bedhead. (Getting a bit warm for a toque, which I've also managed to lose.)
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 30, 2020 3:17 PM |
I love it how urban culture values “fitted caps.”
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 30, 2020 3:29 PM |
R21, is correct. Most American men want to fit in with the bro fraternity. Baseball caps are a key competent of the American male image. Not everyone wearing caps is consciously trying to appear cool, but it I’d just inherent in our culture
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 30, 2020 3:31 PM |
Any women wear caps to seem cool and athletic
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 30, 2020 3:31 PM |
Even women

He's someone I hope the COVID takes out.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 30, 2020 7:45 PM |
Been wearing a baseball cap for years to hide bedhead. Always a fitted cap. Also, the only times you are allowed to wear a baseball cap backwards is if you're riding a bicycle without a helmet (otherwise the bill catches the breeze and the cap flies off) or if you're a catcher in Major League Baseball. Otherwise, you look like a try-hard fratbro.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 30, 2020 7:49 PM |
[quote] Also, the only times you are allowed to wear a baseball cap backwards is if you're riding a bicycle without a helmet (otherwise the bill catches the breeze and the cap flies off) or if you're a catcher in Major League Baseball.
Or if you’re giving head.

This is the hat I wear when I want to pick up men.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 30, 2020 8:34 PM |
Why didn’t you get the big one, r31?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 30, 2020 8:36 PM |
Ball caps worn backwards by mascbros in pron are the living end!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 30, 2020 8:45 PM |
Juzwiak is too young and self centered to really know anything about gay history and culture.
Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman debuted in January of 1975 or 76. All the fraus fell in love with Sgt. Foley but all the gay boys swooned over Mary's husband Tom. That summer on Fire Island, half the guys were wearing baseball caps and team jackets, Tom's signature look. That look had never been a thing before for gays before but it is classic and has never gone completely away.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 30, 2020 9:19 PM |
R34, who cares. This is now
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 30, 2020 9:29 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 30, 2020 9:31 PM |
R34 is goofy, not hot
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 30, 2020 9:43 PM |
I think a ball cap on a guy is quite sexy. Until, that is, they turn it around backwards. Then they look like complete morons with limited intelligence.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 30, 2020 9:45 PM |
[quote]"Look at me! I'm very close to being straight" -- the language of baseball caps
Bullshit. Whenever I wear a cap, it’s because I’m too lazy to do my hair, not because I think it makes me look straight.🙄
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 30, 2020 9:47 PM |
I wear one when I need a haircut (like I desperately need NOW).
And I did play high school baseball...
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 30, 2020 9:51 PM |
[quote] And I did play high school baseball...
I played high school football. Scored four touchdowns in a single game.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 30, 2020 9:52 PM |
To be fair, straight men also think baseball caps make them seem more masculine.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 30, 2020 10:46 PM |
Of course. And most people perceive guys wearing baseball caps as more masculine and athletic
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 30, 2020 11:01 PM |
Role play doesn’t count as playing football.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 1, 2020 12:35 AM |
"According to the researchers, the study has exposed a potential threat to the privacy and safety of gay men and women around the world, as governments and corporations are already developing and deploying facial recognition technologies designed to predict things like the likelihood of committing a crime or being a paedophile." Yeah, this makes zero sense
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 1, 2020 5:11 PM |
Don't know about men, but if a woman, especially younger one, wears a hat backwards, there's a 98% chance she is gay
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 1, 2020 5:13 PM |
Oh, honey. OP, gays have been wearing baseball caps to convey masculinity for a lot more than eight years.
Just ask the prole cap troll.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 1, 2020 5:23 PM |
Honey, didn’t say that the trend started in 2012.

by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 1, 2020 7:18 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 6, 2020 3:08 AM |
Are caps still a thing in gay bars? I know they used to be but BC (Before Covid) I don't recall seeing many gay guys wearing them. I love them, myself. Guys look so hot in baseball caps.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 6, 2020 3:08 AM |
Next BS article will be how gay men wearing caftans conveys masculinity.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 6, 2020 3:18 AM |
I never wear hats unless it's winter then I use a knit toque. There have been times I've contemplated borrowing one of my dad's baseball caps for one reason alone - my hear looks like shit and I'm too lazy to wash it when I just need to run out for groceries or gas. My dad loves hats; he's also balding.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 6, 2020 3:37 AM |
Yeah, a goodlooking and athletic dude looks even hotter in a baseball cap. It just enhances natural masculinity.

by Anonymous | reply 67 | May 6, 2020 1:49 PM |
Lots of men wear caps, obviously more straighties than gay men. Some over analysing here.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 6, 2020 1:57 PM |
Only here would people think wearing baseball caps is something strange or noteworthy. You would have to live in a cave not to understand how normal it is. Even in Middle Eastern countries, I see lots of dudes wearing baseball caps.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 6, 2020 3:08 PM |
You’re wrong, the gay dudes in the Middle East are wearing turbans.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 6, 2020 3:22 PM |
Very handsome R71.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 6, 2020 5:39 PM |
He looks like he’s frozen or has bowel issues or something...I don’t know, something’s off. You can tell he’s gay by the way the cap looks on him, a straight man who would wear that cap would look more rugged and outdoorsy.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | May 9, 2020 4:12 PM |
He’s straight
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 9, 2020 4:15 PM |
I sometimes wear a baseball cap, turned forward, to keep the sun out of my eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 9, 2020 4:20 PM |
Y’all are so old. Most young dudes wear them to look cool (or hot) and athletic.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | May 9, 2020 4:25 PM |
They could be the new 'hankies': yellow for "into watersports", etc.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | May 9, 2020 4:32 PM |
I wear a hat so my bald head doesn’t get burnt to a crisp.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 9, 2020 4:47 PM |
The elderly crowd at DL wear them For a different reason than Gen Z
by Anonymous | reply 80 | May 9, 2020 5:07 PM |
An older man wearing a baseball cap is pretty much the perviest look ever. Especially if it’s red.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | May 9, 2020 6:25 PM |
R82 haha!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 83 | May 9, 2020 6:28 PM |
Oh that’s just so untrue.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 9, 2020 6:30 PM |
Sometimes a ball cap is just a ballcap. I'm getting images in my head of Marcel Duchamp's pipe now.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | May 9, 2020 6:35 PM |
why especially if it's red? red caps are cute.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | May 9, 2020 7:26 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 87 | May 10, 2020 2:42 PM |
[R86] Not sure if I can answer your question, but for some reason, red caps lend a creepy quality to a gentleman. Especially if it’s a plain red or RL cap.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | May 10, 2020 2:46 PM |
Nope, he’s cutish. Baseball caps don’t transform unhot dudes into hot dudes. They just enhance preexistingly hot dudes into even hotter dudes.

[quote]The hats that don't have the hole on the backside are so ugly.
R1 Those caps (not 'hats') are expensive because they-size with they're actually sized as opposed to the cheaper 1-size with the adjustable plastic slider.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 10, 2020 2:47 PM |
R88 is typing nonsense. There is nothing “creepy” about this.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 10, 2020 2:53 PM |
[R92] the logo makes a difference, but the meticulously trimmed “beard” and everything else says HOMOSEXUAL. In other words hot in a flaming gay way, not in an effortless straight way. She’s working really hard for that photo.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 10, 2020 3:25 PM |
[R93] that’s just ghetto. Remember, we’re talking about baseball caps that gay men wear.

The cap is the only thing NOT creepy at r92
by Anonymous | reply 96 | May 10, 2020 3:26 PM |

Michael Jackson. He is definitely not molesting that child, you can tell because he’s wearing that cap.

R110 there’s a great scene in the South Park movie where Cartman meets a guy from the internet for gay sex down at the pier - unwittingly - who turns out to be his teacher wearing a Yankees cap. Haven’t seen it since I was about 10 but that’s always stuck with me
by Anonymous | reply 111 | May 10, 2020 4:21 PM |
Cowboy hats are hotter than baseball caps, but the only guys I see wearing them around here are fat, old Republicans and county sheriffs who seem to think they're living out west somewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | May 11, 2020 3:50 AM |
Cowboy hats --- unless you're an actual cowboy or farmhand -- are beyond stupid.

by Anonymous | reply 126 | May 11, 2020 10:29 PM |
R122, a baseball cap won’t make an effeminate guy seem masculine, unless the effeminate guy is just gonna walk buy and stay silent and never make more than a passing, superficial guy. When an effeminate guy starts talking or displaying mannerisms, his nature will make a bigger impression than the baseball cap. A guy talking and acting camp or girly will still seem fem wearing a baseball cap.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | May 11, 2020 10:32 PM |
You’re forgetting that gay men tend to over-groom, so it doesn’t matter how masculine they are.

by Anonymous | reply 162 | May 14, 2020 2:09 PM |
I wear baseball cap types of hats - but not necessarily designating a specific baseball team. Why? A few reasons:
1) Keeps the hot sun off my head and face 2) Bad hair day or needs a cut 3) I can't be bothered to wash or even style my hair 4) It tends to make you look younger
And with lockdown, my hair is a fucking mess. Every time I leave the house, know that a baseball cap is going on my head.
I'm doing all of you a FAVOR.

R177 most likely either moles or Seborrheic Keratosis.

Is that contagious?
by Anonymous | reply 180 | May 14, 2020 7:39 PM |

Why doesn’t he get that removed?
by Anonymous | reply 182 | May 14, 2020 7:43 PM |
The other guy said it’s a skin thing. Nothing grandpa about noticing that.
Aren’t we supposed to be talking about hats?

Cap back on

Bump

And by all means wear your cap with the sticker still on it....
by Anonymous | reply 191 | May 15, 2020 11:41 AM |
Yes, a perfectly placed crisp baseball cap on a gay looks like a new purse. But the purposely distressed ones also look a bit staged. It really depends on the guy. You can tell when they grew up wearing them and to me that is the qualifier.
I don't really agree with you R166. The guy in R164 is a try-hard. He would look better with the cap off because the necklace and the hoodie are desperate enough. Confidence is what is attractive. Trying to look like you just left a Phish concert at his age does not demonstrate confidence. If you are wearing the cap to look younger or hide the hair loss, everybody knows. It is betrayed by your own expression of needing approval and dreading the moment when the cap comes off.
"Didn't have time to style it"
Now you could wear a fishnet adjustable with a Bass Pro Shops logo on it and everybody would still know you don't like fish.

[quote]Trying to look like you just left a Phish concert at his age
What if he did? He's in the right age group for deadheads and Phishheads aren't too far behind. Never understood why anyone gives a shit about what someone else wears - or why. Worry about yourself.

R193 - Dude, the whole discussion is about what someone else wears. If I saw him on the street I wouldn’t bother to notice.

Caps are so prevalent now, across all ages and social brackets, that I don't think they are really trying to say anything anymore

Back in the day I hooked up with someone and he pulled a construction helmet from under his bed and asked me to put it on.
I declined because it seemed ridiculous.

Hilarious

I would have SO put on the hard hat. In fact, I’m going to go by and get mine back from my bud.
by Anonymous | reply 199 | May 21, 2020 6:32 PM |
R196 here. I could tell he was a little disappointed about the hard hat situation. But I had him on his back with his legs up and I wanted to get down to business.
As we were getting dressed, I said I was a little bit hungry so he made me a cheese sandwich with a slice of American cheese in it and put it in a sandwich baggie. And then I left.
As I was walking down the sidewalk eating my cheese sandwich I thought "Hmm, I had a pretty good night. Tore up some ass and got a free sandwich"
Obviously, alcohol was involved.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
