The day the music died?

their prices had been steadily climbing and you can find almost anything they have cheaper online. No great loss.

It is a loss for the artists and fans though, R2, as they host small promotional shows and meet-and-greet situations.

They're focusing on moving to their new location.

The shows were great there.

that's true, R3. i never go to those so I didn't realize they were of that much importance.
They're being cagey about the new location and as to whether or not they will now be able to afford the move. This is what the PPP and EIDL were made for.

Heartbroken. Tower on Sunset and Amoeba were my spots. I spent many hours at the former & attended meet & greets at the latter.
Part of Hollywood’s history is dying. These things are big deals, because in fucked up times, the arts are what keeps one sane.

This makes me sad. Though it looks like they still plan on moving to the new place when they can. Glad I got a chance to visit when I was in LA two years ago - got a lot of great music.
Weren't they going to close this location earlier than the current plan, and then decided to stay on Sunset a bit longer?

Never visited (NY resident) but sad to hear of it - great neon sign.

R6 where does it say anything about being cagey whether they can afford the move to the new store?

I remember visiting as a college student from out-of-state back in the early 2000s. My LA friends were right--they had just about every classical music CD I could ever hope to find. The only problem was they were considerably more expensive than Amazon, even back then. I left after buying only one CD, and that was mainly so I could have the Amoeba checkout bag as a souvenir.

They sent around an email with a gofundme campaign last week saying it was to raise money for the move, so I would say it's far from a done deal.
