COVID Refund From American Airlines

anyone actually get one yet?

American Airlines canceled my flight in mid-June. I noticed when I was trying to book a hotel shortly after I landed and saw my flight disappeared. I called American and they said it had been canceled.

I asked if they were sending cancellation notices, and the agent said "no".

So I asked if they were refunding customers, and the agent said "oh, only if you ask for a refund".

So you cancel my flight, don't tell me, but don't automatically refund the ticket cost? Nice.

Supposedly my tickets will be refunded "in the next couple billing cycles or so". At least it's not an unusable credit, I guess.

The airline industry has become a despicable cut throat shameless industry. It's bloated and should suffer from this sudden bad economy just like everyone else. I'd love to see a few of them go under. They've made travel unaffordable and planning travel a horrific experience.

I was booked on a flight to Costa Rica. They closed their borders and AA cancelled the flight. It took 48 hours for me to get a full refund - easy peazy.

I'm no expert, but I don't think the first part of your statement will make the second part any better.

OP, I am glad I saw your post because it prompted to go on the American Airlines website to check on my summer flights to Paris and Tokyo. Both of my flights were changed to completely different times of the day.

Mid June, what the fuck? I assumed that at least some travel would be available by June. Was it a domestic or international if you don't mind me asking?

International: Central Europe.
