Yes money plays a big role but so does the desire for fame or to sustain fame, which it appears to be the case for writing these books. Maybe simmering jealousy about not making it on the same level as mommies dearest. Perhaps resentment about being raised by nannies having no life skills to show to support themselves. Celeb offsprings who write these books tend to have major issues besides financial ones, major as in psychological problems to have to resort to airing out family dysfunction for publicity.

R71 "Detour" is an excellent book. Cheryl Crane doesn't trash her mother at all. The book is more about Cheryl's life; her mother isn't the main focus, and the Johnny Stompanato murder is a small part of her larger story.

I'm confused why Brad Pitt's bio kids all seem to have contact with him, but all the adopted kids refuse to see him. Even his daughter Sahara who first visited him is now apparently skipping the meetings. Are adopted kids just easier to manipulate? Pitt seems like a decent guy who worked on his issues and it's sad Jolie is so manipulative. And it's not just hearsay, a judge ruled that she was actively trying to alienate the children from him and wanted her to stop.

I have friends who are Trans but they lived for decades as the opposite sex/gender or the one they were born, and made the choice as adults in their 30s or older to transition and take hormones and get surgery. They are against teens or young kids transitioning and taking hormones as not everyone who thinks they are Trans at such a young age always is transgender, and also my trans friends went through decades of therapy before ever deciding to transition.

There were people who said that Joan was an awful mother, but not physically abusive. The real story will probably never be known.

Back then there was probably the belief or attitude that you didn't question or butt into another person's parenting or punishments even if it was abusive. There was a similar attitude in the past about me who beat their wives and how neighbors or relatives would turn an eye and write it off as "not their business".
