It really is. Maybe even better because it’s light tasting. I know some of us eating pints of ice cream every few days. Halo top has less sugar and the whole pint is 300 calories
Halo top ice cream is just as good as regular ice cream

Gurl, you definitely type fat.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 28, 2020 2:45 PM |
I've never had it, though I've wanted to try it. It's SO American - no one could be satisfied with simply not eating an entire pint.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 28, 2020 2:54 PM |
It tastes like shit. Omg this is just like Ben and Jerry's...if Ben shit in a cup and Jerry added sprinkles.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 28, 2020 2:55 PM |
I don't agree. The reason you eat the whole pint is because you are craving the taste of REAL ice cream. It has no real flavor or taste. I'd rather buy regular ice cream and stick to a 1/2 cup serving.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 28, 2020 2:57 PM |
They only have weird flavors (at least where I live) and I swear it made me break out. I'll never buy it again.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 28, 2020 3:04 PM |
It has a very chemical flavor....I have tried a few and it is awful.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 28, 2020 3:06 PM |
I’m addicted to the fucking halo top. The only bad ones are the pumpkin pie, which they don’t make anymore, and the oatmeal one. Everything else is amazing.
Last weekend I picked up a pint of Phish Food for old times sake and I literally almost threw up from eating a quarter of the pint. The second ingredient is liquid sugar, wtf?? Halo Top all the way. Don’t think I’ll eat real ice cream ever again, lest I shit myself.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 28, 2020 3:12 PM |
Halo top tastes like chemicals. I think I'm going to switch to gelato for my ice cream fixes. Hopefully I'll end up a slightly smaller blimp after the quarantine lifts.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 28, 2020 3:14 PM |
I recently discovered Halo, and you are correct. It’s almost too good to be true.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 28, 2020 3:16 PM |
Gelato isn’t that much better for you. It still has sugar. It tastes better than the inedible Halo Top (I tried three flavors), but it’s not diet food.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 28, 2020 3:17 PM |
I only like ice cream that has lots of stuff in it (cookie bits, cookie dough, flavor swirls, etc) because I'm trashy like that. Halo Top can't have lots of stuff because it would drive up the calorie count, so it gets a pass from me.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 28, 2020 3:23 PM |
Plus it tastes awful, Sylvia. TRULY wasted calories, no matter how few they may be.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 28, 2020 3:25 PM |
I think ice cream satisfies our deepest mammalian urges to lick and suck something milky and sweet. Make of that what you will. But I can't have it in the house. I either eat the whole container and feel terrible, or I eat part of it and make myself throw the rest away so I won't eat the whole thing, which makes me feel just as bad. I'll have it again after the pandemic is over when I can go out and order a single scoop.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 28, 2020 3:38 PM |
Blows my mind that you all can eat entire pints of ice cream in a single sitting and not feel seriously ill.
I have a couple spoonfuls and it's enough.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 28, 2020 3:45 PM |
Lucky fucking you, r14. You miserable cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 28, 2020 3:57 PM |
I’m not a fan of Halo. I’d rather not eat any ice cream. It’s that bad.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 28, 2020 3:57 PM |
Lots of fat typing in tis thread. Have any of you lost 50 lbs tis munt? Tis is not a good situation.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 28, 2020 4:02 PM |
R4, me too. It's just that I have my 1/2-cup servings one right after the other until the whole pint is gone.
Just can’t have ice cream in the house.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 28, 2020 4:05 PM |
I love plain Häagen-Dazs vanilla. The ingredients are simply (in order): fresh cream (39%), milk, cane sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. I haven't found another grocery store ice cream with as high cream percentage🥛 I don't even mind the lack of vanilla bean - it tastes absolutely perfect as is.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 28, 2020 4:13 PM |
haggen daas, the best. a real fat gurl treat. I have halo top in the fridge,no desire to consume it. It's light literally to the touch. The weight of the container tells my brain that it will not satisfy.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 28, 2020 4:18 PM |
I don't eat a pint of ice cream in one sitting. Maybe I'll have a few spoonfuls, a little treat after dinner but never the whole pint. HALO has good creative flavors.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 28, 2020 4:20 PM |
This is HaloTops unbelievable commercial. Who tf would want this shit? I tasted it a few years ago - it was hummus as ice cream. Disgusting.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 28, 2020 4:24 PM |
commercial stinks, who though that was cute? methed out stanley kubrick film geeks.

[quote]Ingredients (Halo Top Vanilla): Skim Milk, Eggs, Milk Protein Concentrate, Cream, Erythritol, Organic Cane Sugar, Soluble Corn Fiber, Vegetable Glycerin, Whey Protein Concentrate, Natural Flavor, Acacia Gum, Sea Salt, Vanilla Beans, Organic Carob Gum, Organic Guar Gum, Caramel Color, Organic Stevia Leaf Extract.
No thanks. Why would you even willingly pay for this? Just get normal dairy ice cream, where you can count the ingredients on one hand, and have less of it if you're thinking about the calories.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 28, 2020 4:30 PM |
i took a tiny taste of the halo top in my freezer. peanut buttercup is the flavor. it isn't bad but its not good either. it tastes"sweet", the texture is airy. this flavor is dairy free, many people can't eat dairy but love icecream. i guess this is one alternative.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 28, 2020 4:35 PM |
r14 I haven’t seen a good humble brag in a while. Thanks for that.
Ice cream is one of the most hyper palatable foods available. It is cold, icy, sweet, creamy, tangy, chewy, and then you can add additional elements based on the flavors or mix ins. Food like that makes your brain (or most peoples brains) go haywire because evolution programmed the brain to go after as much of a calorically dense food as possible. For anyone who can really be satisfied by 4 ounces of ice cream, number one go fuck yourself, and number two congratulations you won the genetic lottery. I’m not sure why any person who could eat for ounces of ice cream and be satisfied would bother with halo top or writing about it on a message board.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 28, 2020 5:04 PM |
I would say Halo Top tastes like shit—I’ve had it 3 or 4 times—but I am not of the rimming persuasion.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 28, 2020 5:10 PM |
[quote]I love plain Häagen-Dazs vanilla.
IMHO the simple basic Häagen-Dazs flavors are still the best packaged ice-cream. Especially their vanilla. And their coffee flavor is excellent too,
It's actually the closest in concept to what Italian gelato is: few ingredients, milky not butter fatty, light not dense, melts fast, refreshing not filling, not too sweet.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 28, 2020 5:36 PM |
This one is lovely, very heavy on the coffee-flavour.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 28, 2020 5:54 PM |
It's OK as a frozen treat, but no, it's not as good as regular ice cream, in any way, shape or form.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 28, 2020 5:55 PM |
Halo top is also great if you’re constipated! It had me running to the bathroom and cramping a few hours after ingested.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 28, 2020 5:57 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 28, 2020 6:04 PM |
I don't know if you have Picard in the US/outside of Europe but their ice creams are really good.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 28, 2020 6:08 PM |
R31 It's probably very good, but I stay away from Häagen-Dazs' more complicated flavors.
They usually have corn syrup and so forth. If I want a coffee ice-cream, I don't need brownies mixed in or whatever. I'll take the clear uncomplicated taste of the simple version.
The American penchant for ice-cream mixed with brownies, cookie batter, cookies, pieces and chunks of this and swirls of that is just not my thing when it comes to ice cream.
ALL of that stuff called "gelato" in the US is far off the mark.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 28, 2020 8:46 PM |

And you ain't no Top either.

All the fatty ice cream snobs are here and they are ready to rumble!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 28, 2020 8:51 PM |
And what a shame no one makes a good pistachio. Ben&Jerry's pistachio has mostly the cloying taste of almond extract. Häagen-Dazs' has no pistachio flavor at all. Real pistachio ice-cream is made with ground pistachios (ground like peanut butter) that infuses the ice-cream with flavor. Not nuts sitting in plain ice-cream.
And no one makes a good almond, walnut, or one of the most classic Italian ice-cream flavors of all: hazelnut.

by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 28, 2020 9:08 PM |
I’m not much of an ice cream eater. It just doesn’t tempt me much. I tried Halo Top when it first came out and threw it away after a single bite. That shit is vile and nothing like actual ice cream.

Tried just about every flavor of regular halo top so far - either "good enough" or fucking terrible. All of the dairy free ones are DISGUSTING. The Peanut Butter and Jelly from the regular line is my favorite, followed by Red Velvet. Got the White Chocolate Macadamia keto version today and it's pretty good. One pint is about 3 servings for me (I'm not as fat as I type - yet).
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 28, 2020 9:29 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 28, 2020 9:33 PM |
The people who love Halo Top have palates accustomed to processed foods. Not trying to be a snob. I’ve fallen off the wagon and it’s easy to get used to things like Doritos and Crystal Light and Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing.
But once you start eating “clean” Whole Foods, your palate adjusts and those foods taste too salty or two sweet or really fake.

Ice cream is made from milk. If you're too precious to eat dairy, you might as well kill yourself. Or eat something else.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 28, 2020 10:02 PM |
No OP. I’ve tried Halo Top a few times and they have had an almost chemical flavor. I’ll stick to high end high fat content ice cream and eat only a spoonful. Yeah, that’s it. Just one spoonful.
Anyone know where I can buy a gallon-sized spoon?? Etsy?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 28, 2020 10:03 PM |
Tried it once...hated it.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | April 28, 2020 10:07 PM |
Haagen Dazs Vanilla Swiss Almond is my favorite ice cream. I can’t keep it in the house regularly but occasional buy it and devour it quickly. Halo top has been sitting in the freezer for months untouched except when nieces and nephews come over.

Strange about the pistachio flavored ice cream. Maybe pistachios are too expensive to make it correctly.
Vanilla is not my favorite anything but Haagen Daaz makes a good plain vanilla, their strawberry flavor is better IMO.

by Anonymous | reply 64 | April 28, 2020 10:43 PM |
When it comes to store bought ice cream, I only used to eat Talenti. I’m not a huge fan of ice cream in general, and I don’t eat dairy anymore, so that’s that.
My favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio, but I’ve never found a store bought version that’s good.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | April 28, 2020 10:45 PM |
Halo tastes like frozen cardboard with a splash of salt. It's the skinnygirl of frozen desserts.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | April 28, 2020 10:55 PM |
R37 what about to Talenti? That’s not a decent gelato to you?
by Anonymous | reply 67 | April 28, 2020 11:57 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 68 | April 29, 2020 12:05 AM |
[quote]what about to Talenti? That’s not a decent gelato to you?
It has none of the characteristics of gelato.
Furthermore: gelato is not made with dextrose and carob gum. Even their most simple flavor, vanilla has that stuff.
Häagen-Daz does not
by Anonymous | reply 69 | April 29, 2020 12:32 AM |
I have a container of Häagen-Dazs vanilla in my freezer. It's been there for almost 3 years. Do you think it's still good? I'm not really into ice cream too much but it was on sale one summer day for $1.88 so I bought it. Now reading all this ice cream talk I'm kind of in the mood for it.
No if it were a bag of M&Ms it would have been gone in a week.
