After recovering from the novel coronavirus, Andy Cohen signed up for a program to donate his antibody-rich blood plasma to help those still fighting COVID-19. But Cohen says he was ultimately turned away, due to the FDA’s “antiquated and discriminatory” restrctions on gay and bisexual men donating blood.

Was Kathy Griffin trolling him when she implied online that she had COVID a few weeks ago?

ALL THE BLOOD IS TESTED ANYWAY

The laws against gay men giving blood are antiquated, absolutely.
But I don’t know anybody who would want his blood in a transfusion.

I thought they finally overturned that "no gay man blood allowed" thing in 2017. Is that not true?

I know we hate him but he’s actually in the right here. They can do on the spot HIV tests and this is an antiquated law on the books.

R5 /All/ the blood is tested anyway.

Cohen is a putz. Cohen is also right about the homophobic law about blood donations. Both things are true at once!

R7 exactly.

And yet gays still can't donate. See a problem there? And look what is happening now with very little people noticing? Have Covid19? You're gay? Just go away.

There are many reasons why they won’t take blood. I find it hard to believe Andy (or any other gay man vehemently opposing the ban) has a history of selflessly giving blood, or would routinely do so if the ban was suddenly lifted. My elderly roommate was a very rare blood type and she gave blood regularly. It’s hard!
I think it’s just a bone of contention to get attention from- and other gays with an overly smug, grandiose “god” complex about their Covid antibodies.
Scientists use hard math, data and DEMOGRAPHICS to determine who gives blood. Freshly serocoverted individuals have about a two month window of risk before HIV antibodies reliably show up on tests (everyone’s different). STDs and HIV have skyrocketed among gay men, especially inner city. The highly sensitive tests required are much more expensive, driving up cost and reducing immediate supply. If you need blood transfused, chances are you’re not at peak health to weather an STD, or take HIV meds if they discover the blood is tainted later. It could be life threatening for certain people.
If you were midway between a very risky organ transplant, and they gave you a choice of a bag of Andy’s blood, or a straight guys blood, which would you choose?

It's through this antiquated practice that I know 100% about Keanu Reeves. Many years ago, he went to donate blood and a nurse friend snitched that he indicated he said he's not heterosexual. Yeah, yeah, she's the worst for violating her oath blah, blah. But we love her for the dish.

Who would want his horribly tainted blood.
The only person it wouldn't instantly kill is Pasty Stone.

This law has saved millions from contact with Miss Cohen’s skanky blood/plasma. [italic] Thank the Goddess!

Whoever gets his blood will be an instant cocaine addict.

They interviewed a gay guy on the news the other day who also had Covid, wanted to donate but they told him no, so it’s not just Andy.

The antiquated version saved thousands of hemophiliac children of the 80’s. They lifted the restrictions a bit- but to argue that gays healthy enough to give blood are hurt or stigmatized by a well intentioned plan meant to protect society as a whole-
or that medical, science and professional opinions don’t really matter in the grand scheme to get what one wants?
Sound familiar?

For gay men, the rule is that you can give blood if you haven't screwed in the last 12 months. For lesbians, they ask if you have recently set boundaries.

I lived next to a blood donation center. Anyone can walk in and give blood if you don’t say you are in a risk group. You could just lie. All of the people going into that building were either homeless or had car trouble. And there were some rough looking homeless people going in too. I would think hepatitis is a major concern but who really restricts people in a risk group from donating if they lie? Its a stupid idea to exclude gay men when we are all susceptible to disease.

this lying POS never even had COVID-19. He's just a narcissistic attention whore.
