While I agree with R2, I can empathise with OP.

There is an impressive collective of DL intelligence. There is great wit, some of which makes me laugh out loud (and giving WW doesn't feel like enough). There are commenters who are honest and real and sometimes make me tear up. There are a lot of great human beings on this site.

There is just SO MUCH negativity to wade through. Nasty people. People who think they're funny, but they're just bitter. People just waiting and watching for others to slip up, so they can correct them. People assuming the worst about others. And my 'ignore' list is full up.

Those recommended alternatives are probably too high-brow for me. I guess I'll just have to stay here!

Something went wrong at some point. I keep looking at Phill Donahue and the beginning of confrontational television and the prominence of stand up comedians that came about with HBO and cable.

It is as if people not only lost their aspirations to be better people but willfully started wanting to wallow in their own filth and race each other to the deepest, most shocking bottom of their humanity and drag as many people as possible with them.
