Why did Cillian Murphy's career go straight down the shitter?

by Anonymousreply 34April 24, 2020 8:39 PM

Because as he aged Miss Cillian started to looka more like a man.

by Anonymousreply 1April 23, 2020 9:28 PM

Lesbian

by Anonymousreply 2April 23, 2020 9:28 PM

Hardly in the shitter. Is Peaky Blinders still on?

by Anonymousreply 3April 23, 2020 9:43 PM

Because he's creepy and looks like a walking skull.

by Anonymousreply 4April 23, 2020 9:59 PM

He's one of those guys who's pretty, yet still odd looking.

by Anonymousreply 5April 23, 2020 10:02 PM

Sorry not sorry... He looks psycho. Scary eyes and pursed lips. Hard pass. I’m not surprised.

by Anonymousreply 6April 23, 2020 10:04 PM

“Cillian” sounds like a nasal disease and too much like “villain”.

by Anonymousreply 7April 23, 2020 10:27 PM

He's young, talented and seems to have a lot of charisma. Maybe hung too. Far from the shitter for now.

by Anonymousreply 8April 23, 2020 10:35 PM

Always seemed creepy.

by Anonymousreply 9April 23, 2020 10:48 PM

The OP is an idiot. His career is doing just fine.

by Anonymousreply 10April 23, 2020 10:52 PM

Just wasted a couple of hours watching "Anna" from last year with him and Luke Evans and some unknown woman who played a model/assassin. Oh, and Helen Mirren, slumming. Totally horrible. If that's what he's doing these days, his career is definitely in the shitter. Peaky Blinders has been unwatchable for several years.

When he started morphing into Joni Ernst.

The writing was on the wall when he auditioned to play Batman and Noland instead cast him as the Scarecrow. He hasn't done badly since, nor has he done particularly well.

by Anonymousreply 13April 24, 2020 2:44 AM

*Nolan

by Anonymousreply 14April 24, 2020 2:44 AM

Androgynous face

Small dick in 28 days later (but you never know he may be a grower)

Lack of leading man appeal

And last but not least, cuz he's a GINGER!

BTW r7 it's pronounced KILL-ee-en

by Anonymousreply 15April 24, 2020 2:54 AM

Not having read previous responses, I suspect his career is not just successful?, but precisely where he wants it.

by Anonymousreply 16April 24, 2020 3:26 AM

I was really impressed with him in "Anthropoid." That was really a good movie, if hard to to watch, due to the subject matter.

by Anonymousreply 17April 24, 2020 3:27 AM

He’s had a steady television series and seems guaranteed a supporting role whenever Christopher Nolan makes a movie. It doesn’t make him a huge star, but that’s a pretty good fate for an actor, especially since Murphy was never A-list to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 18April 24, 2020 3:42 AM

He absolutely loathes fame and publicity, and IIRC, he once gave an interview where he more or less admitted that although he first got into acting on a whim (because it looked interesting and fun), now that he has an "video instillation artist" (whatever that is) wife and two kids to raise, he's doing it just for that reason.

by Anonymousreply 19April 24, 2020 6:43 PM

I thought his wife was a scientist.

by Anonymousreply 20April 24, 2020 6:47 PM

He jogged by me in Hampstead once. Simon Amstell walked by in the same five minute period. Murphy is tiny.

by Anonymousreply 21April 24, 2020 6:48 PM

[QUOTE] When he started morphing into Joni Ernst.

😂😂😂 Haven’t laughed that hard in days.

by Anonymousreply 22April 24, 2020 6:50 PM

He didn't suck the right dick.

He aged badly before finding himself a daddy.

by Anonymousreply 23April 24, 2020 6:51 PM

I watched Red Eye again the other night. Such a good movie and he’s terrific in it. He’s handsome and talented enough to have been a major A-lister. Maybe he was too pretty or acted like a dick on sets.

by Anonymousreply 24April 24, 2020 6:54 PM

[quote] He absolutely loathes fame and publicity,

What a surprising career choice, then.

by Anonymousreply 25April 24, 2020 6:54 PM

He was born to be a character actor because his looks are too striking (beautiful) to be a leading man. He may not become an A-list star, but he will enjoy a long acting career, if he desires.

I think he's had the career he wanted. Doesn't seem like the type who's looking to head the next Marvel franchise. All interviews I've seen with him suggest an intelligent, grounded person (for an actor). Also he's gorgeous, if unconventional looking. No I'm not his PR agent. I just happen to think he's talented and fuckable.

by Anonymousreply 28April 24, 2020 7:46 PM

If he had the career he wanted, he wouldn't have even auditioned to play Batman. He accepted hitting the ceiling gracefully.

by Anonymousreply 29April 24, 2020 7:49 PM

He has all the parts to be utterly gorgeous, and yet somehow they don't work together. He looks creepy AF.

by Anonymousreply 30April 24, 2020 8:30 PM

He still looks really good. Just not pretty anymore.

I love him in "28 Days Later", and I think he's in "A Quite Place 2" If that ever is released.

by Anonymousreply 31April 24, 2020 8:34 PM

R28 agreed

by Anonymousreply 32April 24, 2020 8:35 PM

He seems attached to that '90s hairstyle at r27. It doesn't really do anything for him.

by Anonymousreply 33April 24, 2020 8:35 PM

[quote]He absolutely loathes fame and publicity / What a surprising career choice, then.

I disagree. In Joel Schumacher's (great) interview with Vulture he talked about working with Julia Roberts and how she was gutted when a friend of hers sold a story about her to the tabloids and she said she didn't want that kind of fame but Schumacher realized one can't decide how much fame you want or get. I don't think the majority of actors go into the business wanting fans stalking them or trying to hack their accounts or digging through their trash. They want the money and the perks but not to lose their privacy. Murphy plays it wisely. He works and he promotes what he needs, when he needs but that's it. You don't see him photographed at parties or on the red carpet or on pap strolls. He even left London to return back to Ireland to raise his kids. He's not chasing fame. He's just a jobbing actor.

He doesn't like discussing acting, I've found but he loves discussing music. He was hosting a show on Radio 4 for a stretch filling in for the DJ.
