Chiropractic Adjustments

Have you ever gotten your person "cracked". How was the experience, and would you do it again? Do you go to a chiropractor regularly?

Often I feel as if I want someone to grab me by the ankles and shake me out like a bed sheet due to tightness and pain in my back. I've been considering going to a chiropractor, but am a bit anxious about it.

I used to go to one, they always tell you to "relax" just before they crack you and it's quite difficult to do when you know what's coming. I finally found someone who practiced what he called "The Toffness Method" and he was all about stretching and applying pressure to certain areas, much gentler and more effective than the previous method.

These day I mainly try to be careful (preventative) but if I do get hinkey I usually stick with ice packs and long walks to get over it.

I really don't understand how these people are able to get insured. I wouldn't insure a chiropractor....

I can barely manage to bend over to tie my shoes before I feel pain in my back, so I can't even imagine how having someone twist your spine and apply that much pressure to it doesn't hurt.

I go often and it's WONDERFUL!

If I had my way I'd go to that Houston Chiropractor, the one who does the Ring-Dinger. Alas, I'm not anywhere close to Houston.

Maybe, because the patients are already injured, they don't get the blame?

I've seen videos of chiropractors doing this to kids, so I'm sure I can handle it. The problem is I am way too anxious and would never be able to "relax", and I'd likely end up being broken into pieces.

I saw a chiro for a time. It was a great experience. But I didn't get "cracked."

My primary care physician recommended it to me and referred me after we'd exhausted a number of possible medical issues. As it turns out, I had - I may misspell this - costrocondritis (?) where the muscles or connecting tissue in my body was inflamed. I went for several sessions and it helped tremendously.

I've been missing my chiropractor as he is obviously closed for now. I've had a number of issues over the years, most specifically an old knee injury flaring up. He has a lot of osteopathic training and his appointments are 30 to 60 minutes, not a quick crack your back and out the door.

Plus he's a cute blonde 40 year old surfer and really fun to spend time with.

There are some very bad chiropractors. I had one who was too rough and I left in pain. I have had about 3 awful chiropractors (who got one or two visits out of me at most). But I have had 5 really good ones over the last three decades.

So yes, there are good ones. I had very bad back problems when I was younger as well as hip injuries. I have been to a lot of chiropractors. Usually I went for 4 to 10 sessions, then went back for more a year or two later. Over time the length kept getting longer and I needed chiropractic less and less. Now I go every five years or so. The last chiropractor said that he guessed that I needed less, because I had changed the way I moved and strengthened my core, which is definitely true.

Good chiropractors usually say that if you do Pilates and yoga you will need them less and less. That has been true in my case.

People here say there are chiropractors who claim to be able to deal with colds and all kinds of illnesses not related to body structure. I have never encountered one of them.
