If I remember correctly (can't find a link right now), a magazine did a feature several years ago on celebrity chefs' ideal dates. Anne Burrell was one of the chefs featured, and she described her ideal date as a man, which raised a lot of eyebrows and prompted a lot of eye-rolling at the time because everyone pretty much knew or assumed she was a lesbian. I think it was shortly after that that Ted Allen outed her. It seems that Burrell has always been conflicted about her sexuality.

She is not a douche like Guy Fieri. Her recipes are really good, I loved her original show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. It was unpretentious and fun. I learned a lot of good cooking skills from watching her. I get her humor since I worked in a restaurant when I was young. She talks to her food like we had to talk to customers, so I get that. Plus she has good cooking chops, she lived in Italy working as a chef so I think she paid her dues. Compare that with Ted Allen who's only experience with food was plating hors d'oeuvres on Queer Eye.

Most food network personalities aren't elite celebrated chefs. They are television personalities first and foremost.

No one want's elite chefs trying to teach people how to cook R64. They are too wrapped up in their Michelin star persona showing off food made from foam, sous vide wagyu beef and liquid nitrogen infused ice cream. The best teachers are real chefs that worked day in and day out cranking out amazing food honing their skills by living and working in different countries around the world.

My friend's cousin is like that. Two marriages and two children before age 40. At age 42 she left husband #2 and started a relationship with a woman. Eight years later they're still together.
