Seriously. He's 76. He partied back in the day. He just had heart surgery! Yet he's bopping around, looking spry, and put on a great performance in fine voice last night on Zoom. Is it genetics? Vitamins? How?
How is Mick Jagger in such good shape?

I don't think it's speed. He's always been judicious about his drug intake and never fell victim to the clammy grips of addiction.

by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 20, 2020 2:17 AM |
He is fucked. He bops around a couple of times a month in front of the paps. Rest of the time he is full of drugs resting in bed in an oxygen tent.

Keith Richards is also somehow still alive, and god knows, he has no reason to be.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 20, 2020 2:19 AM |
He bathes in the vaginas of young virgins.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 20, 2020 2:20 AM |
Many have access to money, doctors, and drugs. But they can’t do what he does. I have to assume he lucked out genetically. Performers much younger than Mick (Madonna, Janet, etc.) can’t match his on-stage energy. And performers who are close in age, such as Cher, put on a spectacle... but they are moved around, hoisted, hydraulically and by young dancers. He seems unique.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 20, 2020 2:20 AM |
Keith Richards is still waaay more impressive because he still smokes.

Jagger's father was a famous basketball guru in Britain and made him work out daily from a young age. Guessing those habits served him well. Plus he never seemed like a complete druggie hedonist. A touch of this, a taste of that, but I think Mick's true love is money.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 20, 2020 2:24 AM |
Let's hope Sir Mick retires soon, it would be more dignified that way.

His father was a physical education teacher, so Mick has worked out his entire life. He has a nutritionist, personal trainer, massage therapist, chef, and personal assistants to handle everything for him and keep him toeing the line. He's got incredible discipline and stamina, and he recovered in record time from the heart valve replacement. At this stage, drugs are way in the rear view mirror and he still loves to perform.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 20, 2020 2:40 AM |
Keith states he has only done top quality drugs, never cheap dirty street drugs. And he is rumored to have gone to Switzerland more than once for expensive blood-cleaning procedures.
Mick, on the other hand... who knows. Maybe getting bones up the ass keeps him youthful.

I don't think he was ever a drug addict or alcoholic. And he has a naturally thin, wiry build, was never prone to being overweight. Of course his face looks awful; wrinkled, aged. But for a man his age, his body must be in pretty good shape if he can still perform. He can still DANCE. That's pretty amazing.

As some have already posted. He exercises a lot, has avoided booze & drugs (though more than likely dabbled with those a little in the 60s/70s), never smoked, eats a healthy balanced diet and genetics. I don't know about his mother but his father lived to be in his 90s.

I think Keith stopped smoking recently.
I also saw them after Mick's heart surgery and they totally rocked! Mick was brilliant and moving around great. Keith didn't look so good, he barely moved. Ronnie was great too. All 4 of them are naturally thin. Ronnie is also very slim and his hair is just ridiculous, I wonder if it's a wig...
by Anonymous | reply 73 | April 20, 2020 7:52 AM |
Mick has always looked after himself and has great genes - both parents lived to be in their 90s. It’s not rocket science.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | April 20, 2020 9:49 AM |
He always moves, and genes. My late father who was a binge drinker (meaning he wouldn’t drinks for months, then spend a month drinking) was like Mick.
He had a physical job. He was a mechanic and worked until he turned 65. He also walked an hour per day either before of after work, and surprisingly enough, had a very healthy diet for a binge drinker. At 40 he became almost vegan, with the exception of fish. He never smoked, rarely became ill with a cold or anything else, & the only medications he took were statins.
Once he retired he started drinking more often, however, he remained thin his entire life, and though he drank, his skin remained obscenely firm, displaying barely any wrinkles, and he still moved like he was a 30 year old man.
His father, who didn’t drink or smoke ever, and also moved physically on a daily basis, lived until 96 or 98. Can’t remember which.
You have to move around your entire life to end up like Mick. That’s the trick. Physically moving around, not smoking, and having a healthy diet protects your heart, your joints, and your skeletal structure & will protect you from obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and a bunch of other things. The rest, like firm skin that remains smooth, or keeping all of your teeth, is genetics and consistent self care.
I’ve been to 3 Rolling Stones concerts, all at different decades, and Mick’s agility as he ages always reminded me of my dad.
Our problem here in America, is that most of our country isn’t “walkable”. Everyone drives everywhere, even to the grocery store. Where I live now, our grocery store is a mile or so away from my home, however, we haven’t any sidewalks. Back in LA, I walked to my grocery store every day. Rather than filling my fridge up with tons of food, I would buy 1 week’s worth of groceries, yet I would walk to pick up stuff for dinner, like fish or brown rice. On weekends, I walked everywhere I could, and even if I drove to a weekend Farmers’ Market, I parked a good distance away, and walked to my destination.
Obese people fill up their carts at the supermarket with TONS of non perishables with high sugar and sodium content, pork products, and red meat. Where I live now, many obese people grocery shop in these little electronic carts they sit in. They hit obesity ranges in their teens or twenties. The women let everything go once they start having kids.
It’s all about lifestyle and food. Mick will probably live until his late 90s or early 100s.

"What are these procedures? Tell us more."
The old story was that Keith Richards would get "clean" and drug free by going to a clinic and getting all the blood in his body replaced. Supposedly it's just an urban legend, but I tend to believe it. It seems a drastic thing to do, but I think he must have thought it was easier than going to AA or NA meetings.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | April 20, 2020 8:06 PM |
Or Keith is just an outlier. Some people smoke from childhood to age 90-something with no related ill health.

Keith Richards' autobiography is an entertaining read, and gives some good insights into who The Rolling Stones were. We tend to mythologize performers, and we see the Stones as some kind of street hoods that came together and formed a band. Mick and Keith were middle class kids who wanted to form a band. Charlie Watts was a well-respected jazz drummer who they had to entice to join them. Even Keith is not the junkie we all want him to be. He's been clean (other than pot) since around 1990.

I think Mick stopped smoking many years ago. He never became addicted to heroin like Keith, Brain Jones and Mick Taylor.
I guess all those young women he continues to have sex with sure doesn't hurt. Didn't he become a father, yet again, recently?!!
One of my elderly neighbors lived to 102! He'd always joke, "I stopped smoking 60 years ago!" But it wasn't a joke, he stopped smoking that long ago. He ate healthy foods, didn't drink liquor, he sure didn't do recreational drugs and even up to his last few months, he took a walk every day. He had hobbies which kept him active. He outlived his wife, it's usually the other way around, most women outlive their husbands.

I wonder about the voice--don't singers always more or less lose it in old age? Was there some kind of technology involved in that Zoom thing? It was live and he's ancient, yet he sounded more or less like the original vinyl.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | May 9, 2020 8:06 AM |
Mick's voice actually sounds better now than at certain times in the past. Some time since 2000, he started working with a vocal coach for the first time, and would have learned how to preserve his voice. Also he stopped smoking as mentioned above, and does not allow people, ie Kaith, to smoke around him.
