I'm not particularly a fan, and expected the worst. But I was pleasantly surprised. She did a good job. Besides being Barbra's signature song, it's kind of a difficult one to sing. Mongo impressed.

I suppose it would be helpful if I posted the link.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 19, 2020 5:43 PM |
You're right, OP. That was pretty good, surprisingly enough.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 19, 2020 5:47 PM |
LOL, I enjoy JLO but that was not a live performance at all.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 19, 2020 5:47 PM |
I would confidently estimate that the chance she was singing that live ranges between 0.00 and 0.00 percent.
It was a great preproduced recording, though.
Several different people I know saw her Vegas show and all of them, to my extreme surprise, told me it was one of the best live shows they’d ever seen. I find it really hard to imagine but I guess I have to believe it.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 19, 2020 5:48 PM |
Whether live or not, it was a nice interpretation, nice phrasing. She kept it simple. Except for maybe one dramatic little laugh/gasp.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 19, 2020 5:51 PM |
OP HAS to be JLo because she is the only person on the planet who thinks she can sing.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 19, 2020 6:09 PM |
Funny how that lip sync performance sounds nothing like the voice on her records
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 19, 2020 6:16 PM |
R8 It sounds like a computer program grafted Lopez’s vocal tone onto Barbra Streisand’s performance of the song, like Barbra is the scaffolding and Lopez is a veneer applied on top of it.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 19, 2020 6:25 PM |
Does she actually sing? I mean that voice sounds like you'd expect her voice to sound, and it wasn't bad at all, especially for a song that's notoriously difficult to sing. Obviously she was lip-syncing. But was that really her?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 19, 2020 6:33 PM |
Threads about JLo and singing always turn into musical forensics. For a reason.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 19, 2020 6:43 PM |
There's no way that's her voice. Unless it's been auto tuned to hell and back.
If it is, why has she been holding back on us for this long?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 19, 2020 6:47 PM |
Maybe this pandemic is J. Lo’s Evita, the event that finally provoked her to get formal voice training and turn into a world-class singer!
OK, a competent singer.
OK, to use her own voice on the songs she buys and puts her name on...
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 19, 2020 6:51 PM |
If this is her voice, then I'm not as opposed to that live Bye Bye Birdie she was supposed to do a year or two ago. Is that still happening?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 19, 2020 6:52 PM |
“If this is her voice”
LOL
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 19, 2020 6:53 PM |
She always tries to sing Barbra for some reason
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 19, 2020 6:56 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 20, 2020 11:11 AM |
Amazing that even in the middle of a pandemic, she has to lipsync for her legacy
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 20, 2020 11:20 AM |
God that was awful
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 20, 2020 11:30 AM |
It was nice but nothing compared to La Streisand, who owns the song. JLo should stay away from Streisand song catalogue, it’s out of her league... voice.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 20, 2020 12:23 PM |
I'm not a fan and of course she was lip syncing but at least JLo made an attempt to entertain the audience. Compare her appearance to that of Beyonce who just read a few lines about Covid awareness.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 20, 2020 1:03 PM |
What exactly was the point of her participating and then lip syncing? It’s not like an awards show performance where there would be dancing and outfits to entertain us. How do you lipsync for a charitable solo gig on YouTube? Aargh she needs to gooooooo awaaay!! People are stuck in their houses because of this pandemic and need uplifting - couldn’t she just have given a nice message rather than sing??
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 20, 2020 1:34 PM |
Because Jlo actually singing would only make people feel worse, and likely drive up the suicide rate.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 20, 2020 1:41 PM |
She picked a lovely classic song and sang it passably well. I am in no way a fan but this is one of the better remote celebrity efforts I’ve seen.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 20, 2020 2:26 PM |
I suspect it was pre-recorded and auto-tuned. Not even a nice try as far as I can see.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 20, 2020 2:38 PM |
It was an okay attempt but she sounded kind of shrill. Can't compare to Babs' version.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 20, 2020 2:59 PM |
Who's that on her T-shirt - is it Elizabeth Taylor?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 20, 2020 3:03 PM |
She sounds like shit and I GUESS the producers lost my phone number!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 20, 2020 3:11 PM |
Why is everyone so reluctant to believe she can sing?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 20, 2020 3:11 PM |
Jennifer Lopez : Madonna :: Lea Michele : Barbra Streisand :: Debra Messing : Lucille Ball
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 20, 2020 3:12 PM |
R31 Because everyone has heard her 'sing.'
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 20, 2020 3:13 PM |
Ashanti was behind the tree.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 20, 2020 3:25 PM |
R34 I hope they paid her 😆
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 20, 2020 4:29 PM |
M thinks she can sing too.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 20, 2020 5:15 PM |
It was obviously prerecorded because she didn't seem to have a whole orchestra in her living room
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 20, 2020 8:00 PM |
I wish she’d done her massive hits Taco Flavored Kisses or Run For The Border.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 20, 2020 9:00 PM |
She did fine I must admit.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 20, 2020 9:30 PM |
It's just ok. I like her upbeat music better.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 20, 2020 10:18 PM |
JLo knows that her days as a pop tart are ending as she ages out of the demo. Now she wants to be a serious songstress. I'm sure that she has plans to record an album of standards, probably a duets album.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 20, 2020 11:25 PM |
R42 I get the impression that taking on classics is less strategic and more about her ego. Did you see her SNL episode? Almost every skit and joke was about how she's so pretty, so talented, sings so well, dances so nicely, and has such a nice body. It was surreal
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 20, 2020 11:29 PM |
She did fine. I have a feeling that her mother must be a big Barbra fan, and Jennifer probably grew up listening to Barbra.
She is wearing a Barbra t-shirt or was it sweat shirt?.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 20, 2020 11:32 PM |
She’s all over the place. Can’t she stay out of the limelight for awhile?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 23, 2020 1:26 AM |
OP - how fucking dumb are you. This is completely fake. Sound and sentiment. FAKE. You can't hear how metallic it is?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 23, 2020 1:31 AM |
“sings”
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 23, 2020 1:59 AM |
This is obviously pre-recorded and enhanced, but auto tune doesn’t work miracles. It’s nice to hear that after only 100 years in the music business, she has learned to sing passably. She is pretty though.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 23, 2020 2:12 AM |
R46 I'm critiquing the end result, and it ain't bad.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 23, 2020 2:15 AM |
You can tell she’s not even close to the notes because of all the Auto Tune artifacts.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 23, 2020 2:19 AM |
She that old fly girl who played some Mexican singer, Subpoena, or sumtin'?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 23, 2020 2:48 AM |
I don't know her.
