Remdesivir Showing Positive Results in Covid-19 Trial
A Chicago hospital treating severe Covid-19 patients with Gilead Sciences’ antiviral medicine remdesivir in a closely watched clinical trial is seeing rapid recoveries in fever and respiratory symptoms, with nearly all patients discharged in less than a week, STAT has learned.
Remdesivir was one of the first medicines identified as having the potential to impact SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes Covid-19, in lab tests. The entire world has been waiting for results from Gilead’s clinical trials, and positive results would likely lead to fast approvals by the Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory agencies. If safe and effective, it could become the first approved treatment against the disease.

Would be interesting to see the cost (and patent status) of this drug vs. HCQ.

CNN is interviewing doctors that are saying Remdesivir has real promise. Guess Trump backed the wrong horse.

It will cost $1700 for a supply.
My 95 year old MIL was just prescribed a daily medication that costs $500 a month with a Good Rx coupon. And for those who don’t know how Medicare Part D works, there are annual caps on cost of medication involving various levels of percentage. Most new medications btw, don’t have generics, so if you need to pay 25% of a new medication cost, you’ll pay 25% of the brand name, not the generic.
I’ve been using Good RX instead of my Medicare Part D so I can save the Medicare for my expensive medication. Stop n Shop is the cheapest pharmacy in my area. Using coupons I can get my meds for about $200/3 months. Then I can buy my Trelegy if I need it through Medicare.
