That is correct. Alas, Golden Corral still exists: see link where they offer to bring the virus and bacteria right to your home.

Work. Yeah. I miss going to work.
I enjoy working, unbelievably so. And what really bums me out is that I have an amazing wardrobe at this particular moment, and I cannot wear it anywhere, without wearing a fucking mask and disposable, latex gloves. These things are accessories I never bargained for! And the most annoying thing about this, is that I live in an area where people are under the odd impression that they, themselves, are not vulnerable to this virus, hence pretty much NO ONE wears masks or gloves, making it even more imperative that I consistently wear mine, & I’ve noticed people reacting negatively to the fact that I am in the tiny, minuscule minority, that does. It’s almost as if I’m breaking some unspoken, yet agreed upon social norm by wearing them, despite it being a part of the loose, yet strongly suggested protocols in place for minimizing exposure and infection. I guess that I look as if though I’m a hypochondriac or alarmist? Or perhaps I’m a reminder that this is real and happening?
Yeah. Living in a conservative town, where almost everyone LOVES Trump during the advent of this pandemic is a big reminder of the following: no matter what happens as a result of this, even if Trumpsters experience a death of a loved one due to this pandemic, most all of them will continue to support him and vote for him in 2020.
He won the PR war on this one among his base. No question.

I am NOT missing. Talking to 'poolboy' who is aged 68 with a shaggy Covid-19 infested beard: he came to my front door today expecting me to open it so he could breathe all over me while he waved the "Stainless Banner" in his own peabrain while he told me all the pumps etc worked. I didn't miss at all. I kept the front door closed but I could hear him shouting and he could hear me shouting back; he was not pleased. I expect I will have to fire him/his company and get someone else; it's too gross to expect me to share all these germs.

Housing Works. Not only do I miss it for browsing and shopping, I am spring cleaning while on lockdown and have loads of clothing and household items to donate. The longer the donations sit here, the more frequently I will rummage through and decide to keep some things after all.
I miss the neighbors and neighborhood regulars whom I know only in passing, and the store workers. I miss feeding treats to my dog pals out for their walks. I miss waving to the barbers and hotel staff as I pass by. I miss going to the public library. I even miss the annoying tourists who descend on my neighborhood every weekend.
Soon. Soon.

That sounds more like Sizzler than Golden Corral. Golden Corral is just a traditional buffet -- not a steak + salad bar. (Maybe it used to be in the past, but I don't know--they've only started appearing in California in recent years and they've all been traditional buffets.)
by Anonymous | reply 60 | April 17, 2020 2:13 PM |
I don’t miss big box stores but I do miss the sweet, little, shabby, easygoing, local joints that will likely go under. I pre-miss them.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | April 17, 2020 2:26 PM |
Thrift stores, home goods, Marshall’s/tjmaxx - I desperately need new sheets and a down comforter. I tried getting the down comforter on amazon but soonest delivery is May 17th. Wtf. They were all like that...unless I wanted a down alternative. I dont want an alternative anything. I want the real one.
I can’t go on like this too much longer.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | April 17, 2020 2:29 PM |
Yeh, I miss just wandering around stores looking at stuff. I actually miss going into work, too. I always thought I'd like to work from home, but I've quickly realized it's my only social outlet. I don't necessarily feel lonely, just alone.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | April 17, 2020 2:30 PM |
Record stores. I know some of them are still open (while only allowing a limited number of shoppers at a time) but I don't want to flip records that everyone else has touched.

r62 Try Walmart, JCPenney, Target, Kohl's, Macy's. I've ordered stuff for delivery from Kohls and Target and it's all arrived within a few days.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | April 17, 2020 4:39 PM |
1. restaurants
2. social distancing-free grocery shopping; delivery has failed where I live, and I hope I never have to go shopping again. I've taken to eating one egg instead of two; half a can of tuna w/half a can of soup instead of the whole; and so on, in an attempt to make things last longer. I have no choice but lose weight by the time this is over.
