Why I Refuse To Self-Isolate By Deidre Hall
I believe that our personal health choices should not be influenced by political views.
However, I have not objected when fellow performers have chosen to self-isolate in accordance with WHO guidelines; that's their choice. My choice is NOT to self-isolate.
Soap Opera Digest readers should know wearing a mask is no longer entirely voluntary. Those who began by requiring masks for performers now resort to extreme tactics in pursuit of their express goal of 100 percent conformity.
Offering masks to celebrities was, in my view, a benign and healthy action. On the other hand, aggressively badgering healthy actresses to wear masks is not only demeaning to artists, but an offense against my personal freedoms.
First, it misguidedly politicizes human tragedy. A prime example was Kathy Griffin, who complained about inadequate COVID treatment, while her actions selfishly denied COVID victims of healthcare.
Second, any attempt to force conformity to a single social agenda attacks the freedom of expression. The extreme activities that resort to harassment to compel actors and actresses to wear these masks are practicing a '90s brand of McCarthyism and their behavior is deplorable. Our community was devastated by political extremists in the 1950s and again became a target during the last presidential campaign. It surpasses belief that men and women in the entertainment field would resort to shameful practices that the enemies of artistic freedom have used against us.
Sadly, it falls to some of us who ardently support COVID victims and COVID research to resist these tactics by personal example. Believe me, the easy way out would be to self-isolate and keep silent. But I won't, because I don't want these appalling tactics to succeed.

I was a kid in the 1980s and watched Days of Our Lives. So, I obviously missed something.

Hey R4 Cinesnatch. There is virtual 100% certainty that you have been or will soon be infected with this virus. There's no stopping it. It's like a velcro ball designed to stick itself to the meat of your lungs. The self-isolating and the masks and gloves aren't intended to prevent you or anybody from getting it. These measures are to slow the spread, thereby in a way rationing healthcare resources.
People who are not wearing masks are not trying to get you infected. You will get infected, one way or another, the same way you've caught colds throughout your life. Your mask will not save you. Everybody else in the world wearing masks will not save you. At some point in the near future, we're going to have to start going back to work and school again. And the virus will still be around. Sorry.

self isolate is what you have to do if you are sick with covid. Social distancing is what you have to do if in public.
I not sure about the facial coverings mandates because you cannot really breath that well, and we are heading into summer?
