Naughty boys being naughty. Imagine that.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||04/14/2020|
It’s just starting out as low-key homophobia, which could cause that generation to maybe be more accepting in the end. “OMG! Two guys kissing, NASTY!!! OMG they did it!”

R5 - I think you've misread. And the key is the reaction. There is no one having a shocked or I-can't-believe-you-just-did-that,-bro reaction in any of these videos. I'm an older millennial and when I was younger I remember a lot of straight bro "gay chicken" videos in which straight dudes would challenge each other to "do something gay" like kiss each other. These videos, on the other hand, just seem to feature gen Z's showing that they're comfortable demonstrating affection to each other without questioning their orientation. Yes, it's a little "look at how progressive I am," but we were all like that when we were younger. They're being a bit precious about it, but I think it's rather sweet and it feels like the opposite of internalized homophobia (for once!)

They ain’t new to this

I think it's cute. I'm just worried how much Chinese spyware is uploaded on my phone after watching these videos.

I hope this is a change, but I think the few who would do this are not exactly in Hillbilly High School in Kentucky. If they tried it there, those guys would still get beat up after school.

R13 you’re an old as fuck Millennial then, because as a class of ‘11 grad I for one do not recall it going down (down, in an earlier round) that way.
All I remember of being 14 is ‘str8/bicyurious emosexual <3’ Scene twinks ramming their tongues down each other’s throats and frotting and groping in public/broad daylight. The clubs and the classrooms of my salad days were equally full of boys figuring out what they liked. Guess you didn’t catch it. And these were no chaste pecks all lined up like cute duckies in a row as in OP post; see R23’s vintage clip for a little taste...
I think the curiously sexless & twee Zoomers are more at ease with and accepting of LGBT, but as others have said they infantilise the concept and make performing it into a condescending wokeness contest. I think part of that is the way they see gay/bi people presented in media and in fiction - conspicuously normal and at pains to be visible but vanilla or in no ways too salacious and tragic.
When Millennials explored gay activity it was with overmuch angst and bravado (and, yes, opposition from less tolerant kids & their families), but it was also with a lot of heat and a real dark curiosity. We were shown more tortured homoeroticism in its dying throes alongside an emergent idea of normalised homosexuality. Different times.

Or, R27, you grew up in a different part of the country where there were different social norms from R13's home town

I can't tell if the future is gay or just that a lot of gaylings use TikTok.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||06/14/2020|
It’s more “mostly straight” than “gay.”

"Mostly straight" means you're LGBT, R40. Full stop.
