I agree with r2. To me, it looks like the guy on the right had a teenage infatuation over a hot lifeguard and altered the inscription to make it say what his fantasy said.

The use of ballpoint pens didn't become widespread until the 50's. The varying boldness of the writing could be due to the use of a fountain pen, or even a dip pen. I remember my grandmother dipping a pen into ink in the early 70's, wondering what the hell she was doing.

How big is the left guy's head? It looks like the biggest head ever. The photo actually looks manipulated like his head was swapped with someone else's. I've no idea why anyone would do that besides trying to create a story. I wouldn't be surprised to hear this is from some creative project.
