The funniest thing about that stupid movie title is that the producers were well aware where Java lies but they still decided to keep the error, because they thought the East has more exotic ring to it than the West.

Correct, R6. There is actually a bit of Java that's west of Krakatoa, but the vast majority of Java is east of Krakatoa.

We need an all-star cast featuring Sal Mineo, Diane Baker, and Maximilian Schell to take care of this!

That was surpassed after Chrissy Metz won a burrito-eating contest.

The Twenty-One Balloons was my favorite book when I was in the fifth grade, and I’ve been fascinated by volcanoes, especially Krakatau, ever since.

Krakatoa erupts every few years, and always will. It sits on a junction of continental plats, there will be volcanoc activity there until the plates change course.
It's been erupting every now and then for the last century and a half, and has built up a decent-sized island in the process. The island will vanish the way the old one did, the next time there's a supermassive eruption.

Fred: "I'm gonna jump in a crater!"
Cindy and Kate, in perfect deadpan: "See ya later."
