Most flagrant film rip-offs

"Beyond the Door" (1974) with Juliet Mills plagiarized "The Exorcist" to the point that Warner Bros. sued the production company for copyright infringement. What are some other examples?

Abby (1974) a blaxploitation version of The exorcist. You have a preacher's wife becoming a sex-starved nymphomaniac, and an exorcism in a disco!

Also Stars the actor that played Blacula and Juanita Moore from the Lana Turner version of imitation of Life

Going back a ways further, A Star is Born (1937) was an unofficial remake of What Price Hollywood (1932), and I believe Warner Brothers had to settle with producers of the earlier movie

Warner's also sued the Abby production and got it out of release. There has been no legit VHS or DVD release.

Well, both were great movies, but you could easily say that Fatal Attraction was a rip-off of Play Misty for Me.... and as great as Glenn Close was, she wasn't better than Jessica Walter!

^^with Clint Eastwood playing Michael Douglas, and Donna Mills playing Anne Archer.

Yes Jessica Walter was nominated for the Golden Globe with Jane Fonda "Klute", Glenda Jackson "Mary, Queen of Scots", Vanessa Redgrave "Mary, Queen of Scots", & Dyan Cannon "Such Good Friends" with Fonda winning but alas didn't make the Oscar cut.

Pocahontas=Dances with the wolves=Avatar

It bothers me that there's no "S" at the end of Jessica's last name.

I'm curious about Gone With the Wind. The book was released in 1936. The Bette Davis film Jezebel came out in 1938. Gone With the Wind the film came out in 1939. Was Jezebel a preemptive rip off of Gone With the Wind?

Jezebel the play was done in 1933.

I think it was a consolation prize to Bette Davis for not landing the role of Scarlett
