A little over 3 weeks ago my bf Mike came to Boston to spend the weekend with me. Over the weekend both he and I got very sick. While I slowly got better he got worse. At one point his breathing got so difficult he couldn’t catch his breath and said he felt like drowning. My family and I rushed him to the ER . They took him right in and his conditioned rapidly worsened. It was so quick I hadn’t even said goodbye before they had to intubate him so he could breathe. All this without warning and without being able to see him before it happened. He’s been in the ICU in a medically induced coma since then and due to visitor restrictions I still haven’t been able to see him. Mike, 40 years old and a nurse from SF, was in excellent health with no pre-existing conditions and this hit him HARD! This virus is NO JOKE!

Thankfully he’s made some improvements in the last 3 weeks and finally the outlook is positive.

PLEASE! STAY HOME!

Observe social distancing and self quarantine. You think you are healthy enough if you get it you’ll be fine but please, don’t risk it! It’s not just about you but everyone else as well.

I am fortunate to be able to see the light at the end of this long tunnel but others have not been so lucky.

Not in regards to this guy, but just in general - "no pre-existing conditions" assumes everyone regularly goes to the doctor and know if they have any conditions. I think a lot of people base "no pre-existing/underlying conditions on the fact someone is young and has never been rushed to the emergency room.

A lot of people want to believe that the people who are felled by this virus secretly have something already wrong with them and thus you, who don't, are safe. Think again.

I used to have a doctor for a roommate long ago. And holy fuck did they do drugs!!! They all claimed they knew how much to do and for a while, I actually believed them. Work hard, eat badly, be stressed out & sleep deprived, gain weight. Starve yourself & lose 10-20 pounds for approaching circuit party in a desperate attempt to be able to dance shirtless without ridicule. Shift the balance of fat between your face and abdomen a little more each time. Stir, rinse, repeat.
