Two cats: Molly and Phoebe. Foster-mates, I adopted them together, when they were 3 and 4 months old. Molly the only girl in a litter of 5--small, but feisty, brown tabby. Phoebe--Panther-like, silver-gray. Loves to lie on her back and have her belly rubbed. They wrestle and tumblr, then lick each other's ears and faces. Molly tends to boss his bigger "sister" around.

10 years ago I was staying at a low key resort favored by Brits in Barbados. I watched a local try to drown a puppy in the ocean - ran out and gave him $40 for the poor thing. She was in bad shape and some great people from the area took us to the local vet. She was given initial vaccines and fluids and I took her home to NYC. A group of wonderful British children helped with watching her. Imogen, Harry, Sophie and Isabel. Since my puppy was female, we ruled out Harry and decided on Sophie ( Sophie told me "I live in London" and I thought she was brilliant).
My cat claimed me on a rainy night in Brooklyn. Getting off the subway, heard meowing from some garbage cans, leaned over to pet and I had a beautiful cat in my arms. Took her home and named her MeowMeow.

My late Siamese cat was called Chairman Meow. He was always referred to as The Chairman.
We used to have a St Bernard called Mother. That is because when we picked her up from the breeder, she was so big and heavy, we could barely get her out of the car, and my husband said, "This dog is a real mother."

Cute, senior ginger cat named Choo Choo. Very fussy and demanding but extremely affectionate. I'll be devastated when she's gone.

R1 - It’s almost like our cats could be twins. I have one (almost 5 year old) Egyptian Mau/Bengal male named Washington (from a breeder). And I adopted (almost 3 year old) Gracie, who is a munchkin cat. I think the breeder named Washington after George...so...not that far off.
I love both my cats immensely and tear up any time the thought of the eventual inevitable crosses my mind.
Washington - who, by nature of his breed can run exceptionally fast is extremely mellow and rarely plays like he used to will in fact run a marathon if I bring out the small toy that his breeder family gave us when we got him - or will jump for anything you hold above him (up to about 6 feet). Gracie on the other hand will chase down anything, anywhere, any time regardless of how small she is. She especially enjoys beating the crap out of any small insects she may find before eating them.

Two sweet Siberian Huskies: Isis (named before the...unpleasantness...) and Zia, just because I like the name. A zia is that circle-with-lines thing that they have on New Mexico license plates, which I only found out after I'd rescued Zia from the animal shelter. Some people think I'm an asshole for not changing Isis' name, but she and I are quite fond of it, so fuck 'em!

R71, two sister cats, Dodo and Jojo. Same here, thinking of their demise will start the waterworks. I started thinking about it when they crossed 10 years. They will turn 12 this summer. In good shape and I hope they live to a ripe old age. But I worry when I hear about friends' relatively young cats with diagnoses of cancer or DLers' stories of pets dropping dead from a heart attacks.

Female purebred black Labrador Retriever - Summer
Two male cats, a brown tabby called Charlie and a gorgeous black tuxedo cat, Dax.
Four female cats, a half-Bengal called Peggy, a half-Russian Blue called Molly, and two sisters, both brown butterfly tabbies: Lucy with long fur and Cinder with short fur.
An honorable mention, since he died last week of a saddle thrombus, which is every cat owner's worst nightmare: the inimitable Zeke, an enormous black cat with the most gentle sweet personality. Never to be forgotten.
All shelter cats, except for Charlie.

Here's the fun story of why a guy named his male Husky Britney Spears. This was due to a DL favorite, whom you'll surely recognize. The first part of the clip is expendable (unless you're crazy over Huskies, as I am), but the story starts at about the 3:33 mark.
